  • OMG!  What, OMG.  I can't even speak, this story could have ended so badly.  Thanks for sharing.  This is really a great PSA.

  • That's crazy!  Why didn't the electric car guy get the little girl out of the road!!!!!
  • I cannot even imagine being in either of their shoes. I won;t want to be the mom and if I as the founder then my first response would be to wonder how the girl got out in the first place. Until you hear the backstory. It's a good thing noting happened to her.

  • OMG that is crazy!!
  • That is one of my worst nightmares. My DD is so fast and would more than likely be hit by a car very quickly because she loves to try and run into the street. Sadly, we live by a busy street. I keep the door locked and bolted.

So glad this ended on a good note.

  • This is my worst fear!!

I KNOW this is going to be my DS. He has already learned how the door opens and he is only 12 months old. He will push his music table over to the back door and stand on it and try to jiggle the handle.

Luckily he can't get out of his crib yet, and even if he does he doesn't have his music table in his room to help open his bed room door. HAHA

I will be installing chain locks tomorrow!!! Thanks for the PSA!

  • That was scary! I'm really glad it all worked out!

  • Wow, wow, wow.  I had chills while reading this story.  I can't imagine the panic that mother must've felt when she saw her child missing.  Wow.  That's all I kept saying.  Thank GOD this turned out OK.  Anna has already tried to open the door.  I know we'll be needing to install higher locks in the very near future once we move her to a toddler bed.

my cousin did this, and his 1 year older sister tattled before he could get down the sidewalk. We have doorknob covers and a rape chain wayyy up high. I have a major houdini on my hands
  • Wow! Can you imagine how awful and terrified that mom must've felt?

We recently installed an alarm system, and this is one of the extra benefits that it carries. Even if the system is off, if a door opens, it makes a chirpy/ beep sound. And if it's on, the whole thing goes off. I was carrying stuff in from the car the other night and didn't close the door tightly. My cat stuck her I heard the chirp and I knew. Whew.
