I started on the bcp when I was 19. At that time, I was at my most intense training for dance and my periods were irregular. Normally every 6-8 weeks and very very light and easy lasting 3-4 days. When I got on the pill they got much harder to deal with - but I assumed that was what 'normal' people periods were.
Now, 7 years later I'm not in any kind of shape and I expected that my periods would not resemble anything like when I was 19.
Maybe I was wrong? AF finally showed up and it only lasted 4 days and was very very easy. No pms, no cramping. Nothing.
I'm not going to complain - but my Dr. mentioned when I was 19 that the bcp 'gave' me hormones that I was probably lacking at that time due to my dancing. So, now I'm concerned that this could still be an issue - and not related to my physical dance career. I know I should give it more than one cycle to decide my new normal... but anyone else heard of this? Something to be concerned about??
Re: off bcp... easier AF?
Probably not something to worry about. Just consider yourself extremely lucky
Without bcp I have 10 day periods that I have to be in bed for at least one day because my cramps are so bad.
I guess you can always bring it up at an appointment if it bothers you.
And I'm very jealous.
I started on the pill when I was 19, too. At 27 I stopped taking them and a year later my periods are very light. Sometimes I have a day of cramps and a heavy flow...but I get through each period only using Regular tampons. When I was a teenager I needed Super Plus.
My periods were lighter and shorter off of BCP than when I was on them. Oh, and less cramping.
Guess we're the lucky ones.

My TTC/PG blog / Panda Phenomenon Explained
You are so lucky! I only had one cycle when I came off BCP before I got PG but man it was bad! Very heavy, lasted for about 7-8 days and I had the worst cramps and headaches. Not fun at all! I started the pill at 19 as well, but I really don't remember my periods from back in high school.
Our Family Blog
I've been off BC for over a year and they've been crazy. At first they were really heavy and painful. Then the last six months, they've been super light, very easy periods. Then last month ... I wanted to die, it was one of the worst periods of my life (which showed up 5 days early, only lasted 2 days - the same 2 days DH was in town this month, but was SO heavy and painful).
In other words .... don't worry yet. Give it some time, your body can change from month to month, and especially since you haven't been off birth control a very long time.
It's probably nothing, and certainly nothing to worry about before you start TTC.
