Lovenox question

I read yesterday that someone said to make sure you get ready for the time change with daylight savings, No one told me I have to take it at the same time each day, I take mine around 7.30 each morning but it is not exact, give or take 15 minutes (I asked my pharmacist about where to inject it etc and he never said anything about it).

I notice sometimes there is a bubble in it? DO I make sure that the bubble is gone before injecting it? I am putting it in my tummy, does that sound right?

Re: Lovenox question

  • It does not have to be EXACT time. I take mine within an hour. I'm not adjusting for daylight savings, you are fine. Do not get rid of that bubble!! That has meds in it or something like that. Read the pamphlet it tells you. :) GL!

  • I'm on heparin, not Lovenox, but my nurse said to make sure there were no bubbles.  I don't know if that's different with Lovenox.

I take my shots about 12 hours apart - it's not always on the dot, but usually within a half hour.

I'm not adjusting my shot timing for the time change - but I was glad to be reminded that the time change is coming up!

When I was on heparin I had to make sure there were no bubbles but with lovenox I was told to let them be. I take mine within an hour of my scheduled time (9 am & 9 pm) and I'm also not planning on adjusting my time either.
  • I take mine within an hour as best I can, and leave the bubble in...just flick the syringe so the bubble goes to the top and is the last thing to go in.  That way, the air pressure forces all the meds in.  The bubble will not hurt you.

Keep putting it your tunny, that is exactly right...whereever in your tummy you can "pinch an inch".

  • I was told it needed to be the same time, every 24 hours (12 for heparin), give or take 10-15 minutes.  Also I always get rid of the bubble.

  • I was just told around the same time- not exact, like within a few hours.  I only give one a day (in the morning) and I don't set the alarm to give it on the weekends.

  • You are supposed to inject the bubble, it is actually there for a reason. The bubble is a "lock" it helps keep the meds from leaking back out.  Hope this helps. :)
