DH and I are going to order our furniture this weekend. They told us 4 weeks for it to come in. DH thinks we are okay to not start the nursery until June. I think he's lost his mind and want the room painted and ready to put furniture in when it gets here. I'm a planner and hate last minute stuff. The thought of waiting until June will drive me crazy!

Re: When did you start the nursery?
I would start it sooner rather than later.
Your energy levels are going to decrease as your pregnancy progresses and when you have your showers, even if your nursery is complete, you are going to have tons of stuff to find homes for, clothes to wash, things to organize and put away. It is still a LOT of work in the end even if your room is "decorated." You don't want to be painting, putting together furniture, decorating and trying to do all of that stuff.
But I'm a planner too!
I agree with PP, I would start sooner rather than later.
DH and I have ordered the furniture and plan to paint next week. We're getting the bare basics down right now. We're working on it when we can here and there, so that later on we won't feel stressed about having a lot of stuff left to do.
I'm not so much a planner as I am, "what kind of stuff can happen" I'm thinking that baby could come early, a family member might come down with an illness, etc. Anything can pop up and take time away from finishing the nursery. Which, in turn, would cause stress and anxiety to get the last minute items on the nursery list completed.
Kennedy was due in April, we started construction (we put up the wainscotting and crown moulding, painted, etc.) at the end of November but it took until the beginning of January before the room was ready and we had the big pieces of furniture up. By the end of February I had the drapes and bedding in, everything just about ready to go.
I agree... the earlier the better.

I agree with the pp's...but we didn't move into our house until a week after he was born, so that's when we started the nursery
Ugggghhhh from first-hand experience, do it much sooner rather than later.
For reasons beyond my control, mine didn't even get painted until 2 weeks before M arrived...styling & accessorizing wasn't complete until he was 2-mo-old.

DITTO. I'm 34 weeks now and we just had the carpet cleaned and painted the nursery almost 2 weeks ago. We put up the crib and dresser last weekend. DH wouldn't let me help with much, but the little bit I did do (like holding pieces for the crib and trying to sit comfortably on the floor) wore me out. We had our first shower on Sunday and it took me two days to go through everything and I still haven't started Thank Yous. I have hung some things in the closet, but need to set up the closet organizers (crates and bins) and SO don't have the energy for it. I've got 4 more showers and will still have cleaning, washing, and possibly exchanging, and purchasing to do. Definitely get started early. You really won't feel like doing everything at once. Or even in the last month.
We started out as soon as we found out it was a girl, at 17wk5d (I was high risk, so we had a Level 2 u/s). The first thing I did right after the u/s, was go to BRU and look at bedding, etc...
