When did you get the birth certificate?

I just realized the other day that we haven't received Olivia's birth certificate yet. I seem to remember, in my PP haze, that they said it would be mailed out, (we turned in the official document info at the hospital), but it kind of seems like we should have it by now. How long did yours take? Did you have to request it or was it sent based on the hospital paperwork?

Ya know, we thought the same thing---that the hospital would have it sent. Not the case, at least in my state. We had to go down to the Health Department (I think) and you get it right on the spot.

I'd think you should have had it by now if it was going to be mailed.

You have to go to the county registrars office to pick it up.

We got M's way back in September or October for DH's immigration stuff. It took all of 5 minutes.

I went online and requested Madison's shortly after she was born. I also applied for her SS# at the same time and received her SS card around the holidays.

We got ours 15 days after M was born. (We needed it right away to get her on our health insurance.) Went to the county registrar - it was no big deal, about 5mins all said and done.

i think every state works a little differently. Our hospital sent Richmond the preliminary paperwork when Robert was born. They said to wait 3 wks and send in our version of the application (along with the money). I flaked out and didn't send it in until he was 3 months old.

Still waiting.

DH picked it up at City Hall a week or so after DD was born.

Our hospital filed for her SS card (got it within a few weeks, I think). But we had to file for her BC. DH went to the county health department and got it there while he waited.

Yep, just checked it out and it looks like I need to go down to the county clerk's office. We received the social security card back in December, I guess I just assumed we'd get the birth certificate too.

I physically went to get her birth certificate. Her SSN was mailed to us about 3-4 weeks after her birth.

Our hospital submitted the info for the SSN and we got the card within 2-3 weeks. We received notarized paperwork from the hospital that we mailed in for the birth cert - again, think it took about 2-3 weeks to get back.

I got it 3 weeks after she was born. paid a sh*tload to have it mailed to me.
