  Definitely.  My advice is just to not hold back.  They need to know everything in order to help you.  You can tell them about your darkest moments and not feel judged.  Good luck!

  I was very nervous about it - I had never been to a therapist before - but everything went great. Don't worry about the conversation - s/he will lead you in the right direction.

  I was sooo nervous. I had DH go with me. However, once I started talking I couldn't stop. I was so surprised at all I had to say. I felt a lot better even after the first session. Something about actually saying what I felt helped me so much. GL!

  I was super nervous before my first appointment, too.  My therapist had a questionaire type tool that I filled out first.  Our discussion started based upon the answers to that.  It had a lot to do with how I felt about myself.  Conversation flowed pretty easily using that.  All the subsequent appointments kind of pick up where we left off.  I am surprised by just how much I have to say.  It really feels good unloading on someone who won't criticize, offer trite advice, or judge you.  Kind of like posting here!  Good luck at your appointment.  Let us know how it goes!
