I am going to be starting my IVF Pre-Cycle in a week or so and I am just wondering what to expect.... I am really excited as this has been a very long and emotional road--as you all know... I am disappointed i have to wait another month--but i guess in the grand scheme of things it isn't too bad.
My doctor is also putting me on metformin as well. I have the black pearl necklace of follicles on my ovaries and i don't ovulate properly and my period is irregular but i don't have the insulin resistance. Is it possible to have PCOS without the insulin resistance?
Re: IVF and PCOS
PCOS is really a broad range of disorders- they are now learning more and more about it an feel like it's almost a few different things under the PCOS umbrella.
Some women have elevated testosterone, some don't... some have elevated insulin levels, some don't... some have string of pearls on ovaries- some don't, etc.
Your doc is sending you right to IVF? You didn't do clomid/IUI at all? Is there a male factor, too? Generally with PCOS they start with clomid/IUI -- not IVF, unless there is a male factor playing a role.
What RE are you going to?
Come post on the NJ nest board- there are a ton of women who have gone through IVF, and many of us with PCOS on there, too - lots of women who see REs on the NJ nest board. https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/3230677/ShowForum.aspx
All 3 of my boys are from clomid/IUI/metformin/trigger.
ah, that is why they go right to IVF - makes sense.
I also went to RMA in morristown - they were great. I had Dr. Scott, though, as you know, you hardly ever see "your" doc depending on when you go to monitoring.
Best of luck to you with this cycle! I don't know a ton about IVF but again, so many women on the NJ nest board have gone through it- many at RMA so asking there during the week will get you lots of replies.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. i was actually looking at the nest last night and i didn't really know exactly where to go... this was my first post ever. i just got to the point where i wanted to talk to other people that understand and know what i am going through... i talk to my friends but they really don't get it.... when i am upset because i have to wait another month to start everything it feels like another year---but to them its just a month!!!
I will try the nest today. Thanks!
I had PCOS and went to RMA in Morristown as well! Dr Bohrer was my doctor for my last cycle but i had Fraterrelli the other times (he is now gone from the practice.
Since we had similar MF as well we did IVF with ICIS. I took Metformin as well! I have done 3 cycles total! All of which i got pregnant but i miscarried with the first one. The 2ne cycle i had twins born in 11/08 and my 3rd cycle i had singleton born 11/09! Plan on one more time!
Wow! Congrats!!!! That is so terrific. Right now the only Dr. I have seen is Dr. Morris but i have heard that you pretty much see every doctor throughout the whole cycle. I am just so anxious to get started. I feel like it is going to take FOREVER until i get to that point!
Thanks for the reassurance especially being we have very similar issues and are going to the same place. It helps me to stay upbeat and positive.
Any suggestions or advice? Anything you could pass on would really be appreciated.
Thanks again and congrats.
try not to stress out about it...it does help. I know it is hard not to but it helps ease your mind a little.
Who is your nurse?
Sherry! I don't know her last name off the top of my head... She is awesome though... so friendly and helpful and knowledgable.. i don't hesistate to call her at all...
I will try not to stress---but it is hard not too.... i just have really bad anxiety about getting started... i can't wait... i am so excited and nervous... It consumes my mind.... and my days seem so long.... But i am trying to stay positive and am hoping for the best....
Sherry was my nurse! I loved her! She was so sweet! I actually called there other day to ask a question and spoke to her! She is just so sweet! She will help keep you mind at ease! She actually wasn't my nurse at first but I ended up getting a different nurse a week after I started at RMA because my old nurse left.
I pretty have seen every doctor there because of monitoring (i think they have added two more since my last cycle last spring year this time) I only really disliked one RE and that was Dr Azim! I refused to see him at all after I had a bad run in with him! I asked to be told when he would be doing monitoring at Morristown so i could plan to go to Somerset or West Orange! Sherry made it so I didn't have to see him at morristown!
