in Postpartum Depression
So I am new here. I was diagnosed March 4th. They want to put me on some thing but I am breast feeding. LO's doc would like me to switch to formula. I don't think I am ready to give up breast feeding. Anyone else facing or faced this?

    I think that there are some medicines you can take while breastfeeding. Maybe talk to your OB and see if they know which medicines are safe for you to use. 

    I'm talking to my doctor Monday about medicines for depression but we are going to stop breastfeeding for other reasons.

    There are many meds you can take BFing.  I took le4xapro with my daughter and am now on Paxil.  Zoloft is what they typically recommend first. Both my OB and GP helped me find the best fit.  My GP referred to Hale's research and had a book called Mother's Milk or something like that om hand when we were researching what could and could not be taken while nursing.  I felt confidencr in my choice.  And, my daughter is the healthiest, brightest 3 year old around.  My son is doing well too.
