Okay, seriously....when are you going to open your own studio? Didn't you just purchase the super-powerful-and-makes-amazingly-cute-photos camera a few weeks ago? (okay- maybe a few months, I'm on mommy time). Those pics are too cute!
I love seeing your new pictures all the time too It makes me wish I had more time to focus on getting better with my camera to do some of that with DD. Also to justify buying a fancier camera :P
Awww, thank you ladies. Yes, I bought a Canon Rebel DSLR in November and I've been spending a lot of my free time learning about photography, lighting, composition, and how to shoot in manual mode. I hang out on the Photography board all the time and I have learned so much from those talented women. Come on over if you are interested in learning.
Fortunately, DD is really easy going so she pretty much just goes with the flow on the photography shoots that I set up for her. So, she didn't mind the teacup a bit. For my next shoot, I'm putting her in an Easter basket with bunny ears and eggs. So, we shall see how that turns out.
vtkendra, you are really awesome! i was just lurking on the Photo board and someone posted a link to a post you wrote about your home studio set-up. so informative and interesting!
i'm teetering on the edge of getting a "real" camera. i definitely have to lurk over there more often.

Aww, thanks. My rationale in getting a DSLR was that I want to have nice photos of DD growing up but I don't want to have to pay for professional photos every year. So, I decided to invest in a DSLR and to try and learn everything I can about photography. It's actually been a really fun and rewarding hobby. So, I say go for it. I think my original investment was $600 for the Canon Rebel XS with the kit lens plus I bought the 50mm f/1.8 which is great for portraits.

the 50mm f/1.8 is a great lens for portraits, I have one for my Nikon and it's awesome. I agree with Kendra, it's so much easier to just have your own camera and not have to pay someone else to take the pro pix:)
