Delayed vax mommies; who are your pedis?

I know this is controversial and I haven't even had the chance to research it much yet since I've been so busy researching other things. And yes, there's new data, but I'm still pretty sure we're going to be a family who possibly does the vaccinations on a nontraditional schedule.

Anyone know what pedis in the south or central area are open to this?

  • Dr. Reidy at Schoolhouse Pediatrics. She's on Bee Cave between Mopac and 360.

  • We go to Dr. Reidy at Schoolhouse Pediatrics on Bee Cave (rt by Eanes Elem) & love her!  We've done alt vax sched for both boys. Mainly, we just wanted to split up vax so not getting so many at any one time & she helped me figure out which to do when. We also split up the MMR, but it's my understanding that the manufacturer no longer makes separate vaccines. I haven't asked her about it, but plan to soon bc DS2 will be 1 (holy cow!) in a few months.
  • Thank you. Go figure that that's really close to where we used to live! I hope I can find one closer, but at least there's one that's not super far north.

  • We're on an alternate schedule and we go to Treehouse. I know they have patients there that are no vax, selective vax, and delayed vax also.

Thank you, but if that's in Round Rock, it's not going to work for us. We're in Buda!

  • We see Dr. Hughes at Capital Pediatrics on 39 1/2 St.  That might be a little north for you coming from Buda though.
  • i went to a meet the pedi night that southwest pediatrics associates had and i want to say they would do them - but i am not sure - and i think you have to sign some waiver or something - you might want to check out. they are at seton southwest. https://www.swpedi.com

We like Dr. Hughes. Dr. Ma (at the same practice) is also willing to vaccinate on an alternative schedule.

We had to sign a waiver too. I think if you don't follow the AAP schedule, you have to sign a waiver.

  • Hey!  I hate to tell you but your best bet is going to be Dr. Reidy at Schoolhouse.  (That is where we go.)  The drive from Buda isn't fun but it's worth it.  She is great!  We follow Dr. Sears' schedule and Dr. Reidy is totally supportive.  She still thinks the regular schedule is just fine but doesn't try and fight you at all if you want to follow an alternative schedule.  It's hard to find pedi's like that so we are willing to make the drive to Westlake.

Thanks; good to know. After I posted this, I saw all the doctors from that practice listed on The Vaccine Book's website. I also read a review from someone on Yelp that said, "In any case, I'm not completely against the vaccinating of kids, just maybe an alternative schedule would be better in my opinion. When interviewing for a pediatrician, I have gotten some scathing condescension because of this." That made me not want to hunt around too much!

TXAggie, Did you ever look into Dr. Esparza or Dr. Fournier at ARC when you were looking?

  • There's also Dr. Geoffry Cox at Seton Southwest, although he is with a family practice.  We were with him until our insurance changed.  They are pro-breastfeeding past a year and supportive of attachment parenting styles, if that makes a difference.

We're now with Bee Caves Pediatrics, which is actually by Barton Creek Mall.  That may be a stretch for you, but the doctors are all open to delayed and I've heard non vax patients.  We see Dr. Norton.  She's great.
