TTC After a Loss

Most interesting wedding you've ever been to

Tell me about it.

I posted pictures from my cousin's wedding and there was my college roommate's where the DJ played the same 12 songs, bartender had the shakes, and when my date was wearing a suit- he was as dressed up as the wedding party. Oh and between the two of us, we had more teeth in our head then most of the guests.

  • I went to a wedding a couple of years ago where the groomsmen all held up signs when the couple kissed, rating them on a scale from 1-10.

  • My 2nd cousin's wedding... the grooms wore top hats, white gloves and had canes and the singer at the ceremony sang a country song love song (that would have normally been okay during the ceremony) in an opera voice.

  • Friends of ours got married in an old barn with a loft. All the friend (read people under the age of 30) had to sit up in the loft to eat and the dance floor was all the way down these old steep rickety stairs, so no one danced. Then, at the end of the night when the wedding party was wasted, the bride and groom remembered they had forgotten to do the garter/bouquet toss (one of only two weddings I've ever been to that had these things) and they managed to shoot the garter into the top of a tree (there were trees inside) and no one could get it down so the GMs climbed the tree and toppled it over.

  • I went to a friends wedding in CA.  They belonged to the Society For Creative Anachronism ( Think Rennaisance Faire every weekend for those who don't know SCA).   It was held at a resort  and the actual wedding took place in a redwood forest.  The entire wedding party was in medevael dress.  They pooled all their "garb" with their friends "garb" so that any of the guest who weren't involved with SCA could go dressed up, too. (DH and I did). Part of the wedding party was a Lesbian couple where one was dressed as "the man" and the other as "the woman".  One of their friends was  catering the wedding feast.  The resort's ovens were broken so we ended up grilling the chicken and beef on charcoal grills outside and everyone pitched into help.  Later on, the minister who performed the ceremony (Church of the Universal Light) went  skinny dipping in the hot tub!

  • My sister's wedding is next month.  I will let you know how it goes when I get back.

So far she has a bridesmaid dress as her wedding dress, the MIL is going to make balogna sandwiches THREE days prior (ewwww) for everyone to eat at the reception, and her idea of decorating is plastic table cloths in black.

  • My pastor was barefoot when he married us. My uncle still talks about to this day. He just never wears shoes- (not even during church). Why should I ask him to change who he is on account of my wedding? To me loving someone, is accepting them for who they are... not trying to change them.
  • I went to two weddings without alcohol...first one was at a city building, second was at a restaurant so I was at least able to leave the room the reception was in to go to the bar and get a drink!

I now travel with my trusty flask!

This made me LOL! At least the BYOB wedding I knew was BYOB

  • I have three(is that sad!?!)

One, the DJ came up with the idea to sing songs with the word "love" in it to the couple, instead of clanging glasses when they wanted the couple to kiss.  The grooms 16yr old sister got up and sang "I'll make love to you" by Boyz to Men....ick

Second, the Groom and Best Man got into a fight on the dance floor and started punching each other, right in the middle of the bridal dance!

Third, when I was about 19 or so I was working in a bank and one of the girls was getting married, she was also 19 already had two kids and was pregnant. So they got married in a small wedding the reception was in this little place, we got there a half an hour late....they had run out of food!!!  I couldn't believe it, I wished I hadn't sealed my card! :)

  • Hilarious!  My uncle got married and his new bride asked me to be in the wedding because I was the size of one of her bridesmaids that couldn't make it because she got arrested (seriously).  We had to wear flapper dresses and the old men wore zoot suits (they are all white mind you and totally totally, white trash).  It was horrible.  Not only did the wedding party lack the majority of their teeth but they all smelled like weed.  It was the most interesting wedding I have ever been to!
