To preface, we're all fine and RRPD gets two thumbs up from me
Around the Will's lunchtime a guy in a uniform comes and rings our doorbell (despite the please knock sign hanging on it). I went and peeked through the viewfinder, but didn't open the door b/c I'm alone w/ two babies and was scared. He was dressed in a uniform and had a clipboard and I could see a white utility looking truck in front of our house. He eventually goes away and I go about my business watching Will, playing with Miles, and folding laundry.
10ish minutes later our power goes out and someone started rattling the front door knob. Then I heard what sounded like people in the attic. I called 911 and had no clue what to do - of course I'm not going outside toward the creepy rattling doorknob, but I didn't really want to stay inside the house either. The operator had me stay inside, but by a door so I could get out quickly if need be. Police were here in less than 5 minutes and they checked out the entire house and attic for me. By the time they got here, the rattling and noises in the attic had stopped, but I was still freaked out. One officer stayed with me for a bit while the other checked out our neighborhood. He ended up finding the guy that hat knocked on the door, but apparently he really was with our energy company and was wanting to check our meter.
Still have no idea what happened, but our breaker was tripped, so somebody was probably messing around with it. Such a scary experience and not one I want to relive anytime soon!
Re: NBR: Scary...Had to call the cops!
How scary Libby!
You did good, didn't panic and thought clearly in a stressful situation. Good job!
Our Family Blog
Good job! I would have absolutely called as well, but probably would not have been so calm.
In my bag: Canon 60D, 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75 2.8, 430exii
I don't think I sounded all that calm
Actually, I know I didn't. I was shaking so bad!
They've been installing new meters. They knock to let you know that your power will be off for a minute and then back on.
That makes sense for the power (although mine was out for at least 10 minutes), but not for the doorknob rattling or sounds in the attic.
(read it. you know you want to.)

omg you just about gave me a heart attack - we had someone come by our house too today, and everything was fine, but I thought you were going to say he came back and robbed you or something!
Glad everything turned out okay, sorry you had such a freaky afternoon!
