This morning when MIL showed up, Sadie gave her the HUGEST smile. Then when I came home at lunch, I held out my arms to her, and she turned away, buried her face in MIL's shoulder, and started crying. Wow.
My 22 month old ds has done this too with both my mil and mother. At first, I was devastated, but after a while, we all laughed about it. They go through phases. For the past couple of days or so, he's been all about mommy and treating them like chopped liver now, so it's only temporary. I know it's tough to experience, but don't worry. She knows your mommy.
It makes me want to keep breastfeeding, even though my supply is crap and we have to supplement heavily, just because it's something special that only I can do for her, you know?

I know what you mean, but trust me. It's because she was comfortable with your mil all day and probably didn't want to switch positions. That's how they are. They are comfortable one way and the second someone goes to move them, they aren't fans. I promise you you're her favorite. It's a phase.

One of my big reasons to BF for as long as possible. The selfish reason.
