Now that we've officially started down the solids road, when do you give stuff like mum mums? When did you introduce the mesh feeder/with what food? Why give the mesh feeder when she could just nom on the actual food?
What an adventure this is going to be.
Re: mesh feeders, mum mums, and the like

I thought the mesh feeder was mainly for frozen stuff that would soothe teething pain. Like putting frozen peach slices or mango cubes in there. I've never let them have the mesh feeders with non-frozen food. Hmm.
The boys LOVE mum-mums. It's possibly their favourite food ever in the entire world. I think we did those around 6 months too.
I started MumMums because they were on sale.
I don't remember there being anything that triggered me to say, "gee, she should have these now," but I gave her half of one once I knew she could hold on to it herself and (for the most part) get it into her mouth.
As for the mesh feeder...we've only used it with ice as a teething soother. I've never messed with putting actual food in it because of the mess factor.
I only put food in the mesh feeder for the purpose of tricking her into eating something. The pedi suggested we try a little harder to get her to eat some solids and I thought, since she loves to suck/gnaw on ice in the feeder, that it would work with frozen food as well. I tricked her into eating some frozen sweet potato that way. I think she's on to me now, though.
You can give mum mums at 6 mo? Wait, what are mum mums? I'm desperate for her to at least ATTEMPT to feed herself something. I've got to get more calories into this kid.
They're rice husks I think..and a big hit with lots of babies.

We started Mum Mums/ puffs about a week before she turned 7 months. CJ- the mum mums are rice rusks and they dissolve really quickly. C loves them.
I've used the mesh feeder for banana, avocado, apple (raw) and frozen peaches. Just a different way of feeding herself, I guess. I know that with the apple since it wasn't soft, she could chew on it and suck the juice out without a piece possibly breaking off.
Think rice cakes for babies. 15 calories / 2 mum mums (I just checked the box).
Have you tried letting her eat puffs? A loves them. She could eat a billion of them.
I never did the mum mums, but we did puffs. I was a neurotic freak though and broke them apart for the longest time. I still tend to over cut her food, which is evident since she will always choose the bigger pieces and ignore the smaller ones.
For the mesh thing, we use it with ice for teething; much less messy than with food.
Ditto.
The pkg'ing for teething biscuits and puffs says baby is ready when they are crawling on hands & knees with tummy off the ground. Camy is not an official crawler yet so we haven't given her those. I have yet to see mum mums anywhere... where are you getting these?!
Mesh feeders - ditto pp about frozen fruit for teething. The twins thought this was the best. thing. ever. but I would ONLY give them in the high chair because of the mess. Oh, and only in a diaper to be followed by a sink rinse before getting dressed again.

YES? Where do I get them? I must have. Methinks this might help on our plane ride this week.
Did anyone give those teething biscuits early? Like BeckO, I was deterred by the packaging, though A is up on her hands and knees and "rocking," scooting a tiny bit, and I think she's mere days from crawling or something like it. It's also be awesome if I could find an age appropriate recipe for making something like a teething biscuit. Anyone have ideas on that?
We get mum mums at HEB. The pedi said that the crawler thing is just a guide. We got the go ahead at our 6 mo. appt. to try them then...I think it took him a few weeks to get the hang of them, though.

I think as long as they can use the pinch type movement/pick things up the puffs and the mums are okay if not crawling (we give to L and he's not crawling yet--and I stress yet).
L loves puffs--we are switching to the organic--I'm into organic and they are cheaper per ounce, but he's not into the mums so much.
We have used the mesh feeder twice--with ice for teething. A friend used it with his 1+ year old...he put a grape in it for him
