3rd Trimester

Elder Question

So...if you've already had a baby, does that make me an elder by default?  And when I reach 37 weeks will I become a super-elder? lol

I don't get the elder thing, clearly.  And if you say elder enough, it starts to sound really funny. :p

Re: Elder Question

  • There was a post about this awhile ago and people get all upset/angry over the term. It's just another thing for people to get excited about: a "you're almost there!" thing. Yes, it's lame. :)

  • Elder is just a bump term meaning you are full term so your baby could come at any time.

Well, it's the bump.  People get upset over everything. ;)

Bwahahaha I know.  I just think it's lame and I was facetiously throwing out a question.

  • Butter sounds funny if you say it a lot too..and try spelling it over and over!
  • I started a post last week about when the whole "elder" thing started. Lame.

Clearly some people LOVE the idea of being an elder, so they were pretty upset about the fact that other people think it's dumb. But whatever.  Non-elders are not allowed to have opinions.  Who knew?

Yes, mama... you are a super-elder!

Haha, it's true. I probably wouldn't come here if people didn't get upset every once in a while. I'll admit, I enjoy the occasional flame-filled thread. :)

    You are so right.

  • I'd hardly describe that post as people getting upset/angry. Elder is a lame bumpism. End of story.

  • It doesn't bother me; I just see it as shorthand for bumpies at the end of their pregnancies. But yeah, having been through it before, I felt like an elder long before I hit 37 weeks.

  • Well Miss Music, cleaaarrly I'm more super-elderly than you, at this point then. Because I'm 37+ with the 2nd ;) 3rd and 4th time mom's are like pseudo-gods.

I kinda get the term more now that I've been on this board a little longer. It's a little easier to know who someone is addressing in a title if they say elder...

Oh, yeah--I forgot that pregnancy was a competition on the bump. :p  I'm the eldererest of the elderers, so there!

When should your camera get there, anyway???  I have been sending you labor dust, did you get it?

  • You know I think I DID get your dust yesterday, I had 4 really strong 1.5 minute contractions over about 24 minutes, then they went away. I think you need to send a larger lot next time (lol).

I think the cam is supposed to show up tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. So if Murphy's Law wants to work with me tonight would be good ;)

Lol. Did you read the replies to that post? Most people didn't care, sure, but there were definitely a few irritated replies in that post.

It was hilarious. All because of a lame bump term.

  • My eyes tend to glaze over after reading a long post filled with tickers, badges, and buttons so I may have missed some of the more hostile replies. But really, how difficult is it to type full term instead of elder? A difference of 3 letters really wears us out?

  • The best was when 1st tri flipped about it a few months ago. Fun times.

Its a lame term. I don't know why its not just called "those who are full term" but whatever.
