I'm new

I'm Kellie and I'm living in Gulfport because my husband is in the Navy Seabee's.  I have a lot of questions about pregnancy and I feel that I'm most comfortable putting my questions and concerns in a small board like this one. I look forward to sharing my journey with you girls, and hearing about yours as well.

Since my hormones, are out of whack, I get to over thinking about things. Such as, my belly. I have always been small and petite but never in shape. My "inner tube" around my mid section has always been a sore spot on my body. Since finding I'm pregnant I feel more bloated than usual! (I'm sure thats normal.) When I look at "skinny" girls at 5 weeks, they have a little, baby belly. When will my belly feel pregnant? Will I always have this mushy belly until middle of my second trimester? I don't want people who know I have been TTC, to know I'm pregnant by looking at my chub.  I'm being emotional and unreasonable yes, I would like to hear from others who can give me a little bit of insight.

Again, I look forward to being on this site along with you.

Take care,

Kellie

Re: I'm new

  • I hate to tell you but it may be a little while. I really didn't look pregnant until about 18 weeks or so...up until that point I just looked chubby. BUT almost everyone who has had a baby has looked like this too so they will understand. However, your boobs might give you away - not sure how you feel about that. Mine got huge overnight, so you may not be able to hide it from other moms. Something about having a baby makes you recognize pregnancy! Hang in there!
  • I think everyone feels this way.  But the good thing is 18 - 22 weeks, which is about when you will start showing, will be here before you know it! :-)

  • Thank you so much for replying to me!  I love this site, for this reason. So out of you two who answered,or others who are a like,  when did you start wearing maternity clothes? I feel like I'm really close to getting into some pants, for comfort reasons.

  • I don't feel like I'm moody, but then I hear the things that come out of my mouth!  What do you suggest for stretch mark cream?  I read somewhere that coco butter is bad for baby? Truth or myth? I know I should start moisturizing now, and all I have on hand are smelly pretty lotions.  Are they good for now?
  • I found this.

"I just spoke with my girlfriend last night, who had twins about a year ago, and we were talking about stretch marksimage. She said whatever you do don't use cocoa butter, I said that I don't but why not? She said when she was pg she had to go to a fetal heart specialist b/c one of her babies was having heart problemsimage, the doc asked her if she was using cocoa butter and she said yes, I slather it on every day. He said to stop immediately b/c it contains caffeine and that is being taken in by the baby causing him to have a rapid heart. I had never heard this before, so I just wanted to spread the word in case anyboy might be sensitive to this kind of thing. Take care everybody! "

  • I used something with Shea Butter and almond oil. BUT stretch marks are somewhat genetic - so if you can ask your mom. The moisturizing helps more with the stretching and the itching!

Oh and I started wearing maternity clothes about 20 weeks - but I had the Bella band in full force from about week 17!

Suggestion: make each question a separate post, you might get more feed back that way! :)

  • My mother, and sister did not get stretch marks. HOWEVER, I'm going to not chance it and stay moisturized!

  • I have (still do!) a fluffy stomach when I was preg with my DS. I started to 'show' around 16 weekish but I think it was b/c I was already poochy in the stomach. I popped at around 20ish weeks.

Good luck with everything and congratulations!!
