Target Registry Troubles - Vent

My first shower is 2 weeks from today.  So this past Thursday, my husband and I went to Target, (we already tested our BRU registry) and we bought our crib mattress and THOUGHT we took it off the registry.  Well, I checked this afternoon, and it still wasn't taken off the registry.  It makes me angry because I defiantly had my paper scanned and even got the little gift receipt.  The guy on the phone blammed it on a "faulty scanner" so I asked him how often this sort of thing happens.  His reply to me was not very often.  I then explain this worried me because of my shower in two weeks and the likely hood that things could be doubled up.  He totally avoided me on the phone and told me once again that I would find my mattress removed as early as tomorrow morning.

So....their return policy kinda sucks and I hope I dont end up with a ton of doubles because the registry didn't work...

Anyone else experiencing these issues or was the guy on the phone really telling me the truth?

Re: Target Registry Troubles - Vent

  • I didn't have any issues other than it can take a day or two for something to come off once it's been bought.  And I thought the return policy was great.  I could bring in anything on my registry and return it without a receipt.

  • I was at Target trying to return items that were shown AS PURCHASED off my registry for an HOUR....they couldn't figuire out how to return the items...it was wicked lame....

course the funny thing is...after that horrid experience...i've returned a bunch of random crap that i didn't even register for and they didn't give me any guff...none at all.....so i don't know,...its a crapshoot i guess =)

  • I had MEGA issues with Target when I got married, and then when we ha our DS they stink at registry.  Even if they do remove items that make it a pain to return as well as they discontinue things way more then anyone else and things on my registry would no longer be available and they wouldn't notify you.  Suck a pain.  Hope it works out for you.
  • I returned items last weekend from my shower. Mostly things I registered for but decided I didn't need and got too much off.I had a few things that were not on my registry that I did not have a receipt for. I didn't have trouble returning any of it. I was very surprised and happy.

  • I have to check and double check both of my registries (Target and BRU) almost daily to keep them "correct". I'm not sure how it's going to work once once people start buying stuff! Oh well, I guess I will just have to hope for gift receipts because I just know there are going to be doubles!
  • I think duplicates can and do happen with any registry.

  • I have only had to return a few things so far and it has been a breeze. I just don't see a big deal....so you get two boppies....before the baby comes return one of them and get store credit or exchange it. It's a small hassle but it all works out in the end and there are so many more things to think about and worry about that are bigger when you have a baby coming. The registry system apparently sucks at Target and BRU. What can you do? either deal with it or don't register there at all. I heard so many complaints about BRU, that I registered at Amazon and Target. So far it hasn't been too annoying.
  • I had quite a few issues with doubles. And it was people who told me they made sure the items were scanned off the registry. However, they changed their return polucy a couple months ago and it's super easy to return things off your registry, so it was really no problem.

  • My friend registered at Target for her wedding and had ALL KINDS of troubles like this.  And then I registered there for my baby shower and also had the same issue.  it's pretty annoying, but I ended up getting lucky and not having too many doubles of things.

I had a problem returning items that I registered for and were marked as purchased on my registry.  However, these items did not show up on my gift purchase log that they made me print out which is different than the registry sheet.  In order to return them I had to go against the $70 a year with no receipt even though they should have been able to use my registry.  I hate that it seems to depend on the person and the store of how it works.

This happened to me.  Still have a useless $350 item sitting in my garage that I never plan on using because they won't take it back, even though it was purchased and marked off  - their gift purchase log never had it show up.
