B has baby acne on his cheeks and neck. My other two never had it. We already use Aveeno body wash and lotion for his skin. Could it be from the BM? Have any of you experienced this? What should I do?
I'm a pedatric dermatology PA at Miami Children's Hospital...it's very common in BF babies because it's from your homones secreting into your BM. Dont' use Aveeno...use either Cetaphil or CeraVe cleanser 2x day and either Cetaphil or CeraVe cream as well to moisturize. If it's really bad, you can get an Rx from your pedi for erythromycin 2% soln or clindamycin lotion...or come see us in the office Dont' worry...it will go away on it's own too!

Oh my!! Thank you sooo much for the information. I was beginning to get worried...I'm going shopping first thing in the morning. I actually already us Cetaphil for myself just to have to pick up the wash. Thanks again!
Actually, for baby acne you don't want to put Aquaphor on it because it's petrolatum, which creates a thick barrier, which will clog the sebaceous glands more, making more acne. You just want to exfoliate the oil, dead skin, etc.
Oh, also, sometimes baby acne gets worse when you start treatment, before it gets better. So don't be alarmed if it does get a little worse for a few days.

We used Aquaphor on Sophie's...I am not sure it helped. LOL. I think it really just goes away on its own. Hers started at like 8 weeks and lasted 2-3 weeks. I hated it.
ETA: We used the Aquaphor wash...not the vaseline.

Yeah - at first is was just a few specs on one cheek...now its both cheeks, his neck, forehead, and even his scalp. I just hope it doesn't hurt or itch! I'll let you ladies know how it goes. Thanks for all your help...
