Sperm count for IUI

I had my first IUI yesterday morning.  DH's sperm count was 10 million, so a little low (it was low because it was a surprise IUI, and we had sex the day before for a postcoital).  The dr said the count was still high enough to do an IUI, and it's normal that it was a little on the low side since we had sex the day before.  What has your dr told you about sperm count and iui's?  Just wondering what a normal range is, and if we have any hope for this cycle.

    not sure, we haven't done the IUI yet, but i just wanted to say that i really really hope that it works out for you guys!  us oldies need to get the hell off this board.

    oops, i didn't notice this was on the IF board.  i was on your profile looking at your posts and i just assumed that it was on TTCAL. 

    sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone about "getting the hell off THIS board".   

    but it would be nice for you to get off IF and TTCAL, sweetieD.

    When I was doing IUI, anything over 5 mil was ok, but they were really happy with 10mil or more.  They said that if you had 10 mil or 20mil, your chances werent any higher.  But, if you had less than 10 mil your chances could go down.
    Feb 2010 - IVF #1 BFP, miscarriage with D&C April 2010 - IVF #2 BFN June 2010 - IVF #3 BFP, Baby girl born March 2011 Oct 2011 - Natural BFP, D&C Dec Jan 2012 - back to RE

    My nurse didn't tell me what the sperm count was for my IUI. Good luck!! :)

    For My first iui cycle (it was a BFP) we only had 8 mil sperm and it worked. I say anything is possible! My RE also said they liked it to be atleast 10 mil, so I think you're fine. Good Luck and it only takes one!

    Ha-no offense with me, I think we all want off this board PRONTO!

    For the OP-my RE was OK with IUI's if there was at least 1 million motile sperm post wash.  I think the way that's calculated is total count x's motility %.  So Dh's last post wash IUI numbers were 14 million with 34% motility and we were good to go.

    My RE likes to see 10 million at the lowest.  We were to abstain for 2-3 days before our IUI.

    I was told they "like" to have 10 Mil but consider IUI a viable treatment as long as there is > 1 Mil.

    My RE has said that they've had successful IUIs with 2 million sperm but that they want to see above 10 million.

    My RE likes it to be around 10 million. Our first IUI it was 9.2 million & unfortunately it didn't work for us but from what the other girls has said anything is possible. Good luck & hoping your 2ww goes quickly!

    Our post- wash counts were 12 million with motility around 60% or so.  The nurse who did the IUI seemed happy with the numbers.

    My RE says ideal sperm count for IUIs is between 5-12 million.

    We had one trip to the sperm bank and got enough for 13 vials for IUI. When they thawed the first vial 3 years later it had 5-6 mil and they went ahead with the IUI. But because DH was in Iraq and they didn't like the way the vial thawed they pushed us straight through to IVF with ICSI.
