So I haven't worn a pad in who knows how long so what kind did you get and how many? What am I gonna need to stock up on for when I first get home? I went to the store today and had no clue where to even begin! Thanks
I bought the stayfree overnight with wings and they were plenty. The first few days I wore the gigantic pads the hospital sent home but when I ran out I switched to the Stayfree.
I only bled really heavy for the first few days though. By 5 days PP I was down to a regular menstrual flow and by 2 weeks was down to a light flow.
I bought a variety of pads and lots, which ended up being a good thing since I finally stopped bleeding this week. I wore the hospital ones, not the diapers but the super thick pads, for the first few days because I liked the extra padding when I was sitting. I was sore! Stayfree ultra thin overnights with wings were my favorites. The Always Infiniti were too absorbent when I was stuffing the Tucks pads down there. They dried the Tucks out and defeated the purpose.
I (personally) like wings because they keep everything in place. Pads without wings seem to bunch up.
I went through 2 packages of the Up&Up (Target brand) of Overnights w/ wings and half a package of the Up&Up Regular w/ wings before I switched to panty liners a few weeks ago.
The overnights are nice because they're longer and you'll probably be laying down a lot in the first few days/weeks so they catch anything that would otherwise be missed by a regular pad when you're laying down.
(Can I just take this opportunity to say that I hate pads with a passion? Other than when I had my son, the last time I wore a pad was when I got my very first period when I was 12. As soon as I discovered tampons, that was the end of the "period diaper". I never feel clean when I wear them. If you're like me, the bleeding will be the worst part of your pregnancy. Now hurry up and have that kid so you can join us!)

All of this exactly. Stay away from Always, they made me stink. I needed one regular size pack of heavy flow and two regular size packs of medium flow. I am down to pantiliners, but I change them every few hours.

I haven't worn pads since I first got my period either! I walked down the aisle looked at my husband and said I should just buy the d*amn depends! lol I love me some tampons ::sigh:: Actually I love not having a period!!!
I read a million books but never once read that a woman bleeds for 4 to 6 weeks total after she gives birth. It was quite a shock learning this. I had bought 1 box of pads before my c-section, but it looks like I'll be needing quite a bit more.

im still using the ones from the hospital (hey, they were free!
)
Then im just going to use the overnight ones until the bleeding goes down. Then using what i would use for a normal flow.

Me too. Although I hardly needed big pads because I had a c-section my bleeding was pretty light.
Can't wait to read your birth story!
