So my baby has a cold right now but we decided to take him in to see the doctor just to make sure it wasn't anything else. While we were at the express care (couldn't get in to see his doctor because it was Friday evening) that doctor said that it also appeared that he had an allergy. So I started prompting him, to my milk? Our dogs? Etc. He said he didn't know but there was nothing that could be done until he was 6 months anyways. This answer is still bothering me. We could AVOID the allergen if we knew what it was. I plan on asking his doctor more at his appointment on Tuesday but this is bothering me too much, he stares at me with his puffy watery red eyes and I melt.
So how did you find out what your baby was allergic to? I have read some posts about dairy allergies, but it sounds like there is usually some bloody poops with that and we haven't seen that. It does sometimes go between yellow and green, but that is it. He seems to have a rash on his head and upper chest/back but no where else. Plus the red puffy watery eyes.

Re: ? about babies with allergies (long)
Could be something you are eating...possibly milk protein but, even though we see it on the boards so often, it isn;t that common. An allergy definitely can cause rash, green poop. Watery eyes to me would suggest environmental but the other stuff would make me think something in your diet. I know that isn't helpful but I would maybe cut out the major allergens in your diet (soy, dairy, nuts, eggs, wheat). You don't need to get rid of them all but do you eat some of them a lot? That may be a good place to start. We did an elimination diet, even though our doc didn't think it was necessary, and just started adding things back in...no we just are keeping out dairy and gluten and he is doing well.
Also, not that it means anything but I recently read an article about babies who are exposed to dogs in their homes are less likely to develop alergies to them (and other things).

If LO has sinus congestion you can try saline drops to loosen it up and allow you to suck it out with the aspirator to provide some relief. Skin irritation would make me point fingers at the dogs but I'm no doctor. Is there a way to limit your exposure to the dogs? Or does LO come in contact with the dog hair from furniture or your clothes? If so, try removing them from contact with LO and see what happens.
I think our LO may have a mild cat allergy so we are going to visit family in another city for a week to see if DD sinus irritation and congestion goes away while away from the cats. I plan on washing everything once we get there so it's all clean and free of cat hair and dander, then just sit back and wait. Until then, she and I have been hanging out mostly in the bedroom (which has always been a no cat zone) with an air filter running on high and it's already cleared to half of what it was, no help from saline or anything like that.
