the only thing that calms her down at 2am is a boob

Crying I am SO exhausted! Crying

For two weeks now dd has been waking up between 1 and 3am screaming bloody murder! Dh will get up and try to calm her down since once she sees me all she wants is to nurse, but nothing helps and gets her back to sleep until I give in. Her top 4 teeth are coming in and we're sleeping less in this house than when she was a newborn. The first one should cut through any time now and I can't wait for this to be over!

Crying

Any tips on getting her back to sleep without nursing her? I have a feeling that her amazing sleeping habits are going down the shitter right now with this middle of the night feeding.

  • I feel your pain!

DD nurses 2-4 times a night, always.
I am beyond exhaustion and out of ideas.

  • I'm in the same boat.  Have either of you done sleep training?  My DH really wants to...
  • No we haven't. I wanted to wait until at least 8m. She is a great sleeper when she isn't teething. However I always nurse her to sleep and so I'm think we will need to do a bit of sleep training when I wean her.

I'm not ready to be done with bf'ing yet and dh & I haven't thouroughly researched which type of sleep training method we would like to go with yet.

  • I have no tips. I just nurse Jake.

    I hope it'll improve fast!

  • DS nurses at night too. I don't mind if its one time. Two I can tolerate but more makes me exhausted the next day. We tried reducing the minutes of nursing per night but it didn't help him. We got down to 3 minutes per nursing session and then we stopped.?
  • Not to be Captain Obvious, but is she hungry? DD's nighttime eating needs still go up and down. Also, a lactation consultant once told me that breastmilk has something in it that eases the pain of teething, plus sometimes the shot of calories makes them feel better.

I doubt she's hungry. She has about 4 Tbsp of veggies about 45 min before she goes to sleep and I nurse her as well. She's sttn for 6m now so if she is all of a sudden getting hungry in the middle of the night then I don't know what to do. She eats like a horse.
