TTC After a Loss

clomid gals. help please?

What cycle day do you tend to ovulate on with clomid?

Today is CD 1, and BF won't be back until CD 13. I'm debating taking the clomid, but my RE said to BD from CD 10 - 18. I don't know if it's a waste of time or not.. This is also my first round of clomid, and I don't know if it will work. Gah. Any suggestions?

  • oh wow, that's a tough one.  i would hate to take it and O before he comes back.  i think that is unlikely, but eveyone's body is diff.  are you taking it CD3-7 or 5-9?  5-9 might be better because it might make you O a little later, but that is just a guess.

  • I ovulate usually on CD 14 with Clomid.  I take it on CD 5-9.

My first round of Clomid resulted in me forming a huge cyst on my ovary, so we had to take the next cycle off.  The off cycle is when we got pregnant with the baby we lost.

ETA: I do not ovulate or get my period on my own without Clomid's assistance.  So, for me, even if I don't get pregnant on a cycle, at least my next cycle will be starting immediately.  Otherwise, I have to take Provera and that puts everything off for at least another 2 weeks.

  • My RE said to take it from CD 3-7, and I too don't seem to ovulate or get my periods on my own. Hmm.. Firefightersgal, what dosage are you on? I'm starting on 50mg

  • I'm on 50 mg.  I have (thus far) been able to ovulate with the low dosage.
  • I would take it CD5-9, I did that with 50mg and O'd on CD 14.   You generally O 5-9 days after taking the last pill, so you would still have a chance.  I think if you do take it but don't get pregnant this cycle, just let them know that you weren't able to BD that many days before so your dosage doesn't get upped based on not getting pregnant.

I don't know if that made any sense, it did in my head :)

I know every doctor is different, so maybe take this with a grain of salt.  My doctor did not up my dosage because I didn't get pregnant.  She kept me at the same dosage because my chart showed that I was able to ovulate with just the 50 mg.

this is what i would do!  i have taken it both 3-7 and 5-9 and dr said it really didn't matter.  Good thinking 3lt!

yes, absolutely.  What I said should be taken with a grain of salt as well, because like you said, every doc is different.

  • Late to the party, here (spent the last 6 hrs painting ;) but wanted to add my experience.

I did 3 cycles of Clomid 100mg, taking it from CD5-10, and I ovulated on CD17 or 18.  My RE wasn't impressed with my response to it, and would have moved me to injections earlier if we hadn't gotten a bfp with that first cycle.  My lining also got thinner and thinner over the 3 cycles, and my s/e increased with each cycle.

GL with the clomid and the timing this cycle, I hope it works for you. :)
