finding daycare

DH and i are looking for a nanny or in home day care for 2 dyas a week for now.  Any suggestionds for a safe way to find someone.  We dont have any family in town and all our friends work.

    Try your local bump board...and is there a local moms' board, like momslikme.com?

    Also, if all of your friends work, surely some of them use childcare?

    I checked my state's website for a listing of the registered and licensed child care providers - it included in-home daycares. Also, there were reports of any violations of state laws for daycares from every inspection, and how long it took the place to fix the problem.

    We moved to TN from VA and I got advice from the wife of one of DH's co-workers.  She told me about a moms website for our town and daycare was one of the sections.  I looked at profiles and called around from there. The lady we use is one I found on that website.
