Hi all!
I posted this on my local board, but thought you ladies might be able to help as well....
Any input is appreciated. Also, there are more pics of the nursery in my blog (link in siggy).
TIA!
So, I plan on finishing up the nursery this week. After my shower and after buying a few more things, it's still a disaster and I've got to get it done already.
Here's where I need help. When Peter and
I first moved in, we bought these gorgeous wood blinds for our room and
for the "spare" room, now nursery. I love them, but I haven't been
able to figure out how to work with them in Mariana's room. The space
is also kind of odd because there's a radiator that sticks out from her
windowsill, and there's an odd corner to the right of the window.
Here's a pic of what they look like in her room:

Please excuse my awful photoshopping here, but this is what I had in mind... the big black things on the right are small 12" x 8" shelves that Peter had custom made, but aren't up yet.

Now, here's her bedding just so you can have idea of what the rest of her room looks like:

ANd it's against black furniture.
Please give me honest opinions here!! What color would you do the curtains in? Gold? Pink? Ivory? I don't know what looks best against the dark blinds.
And I just can't go for the panels that go with her bedding - they're $189. per pair and in order to do the effect I want, it'll take 11' of curtain (I'd have to buy 3 panel sets).
Re: Nursery Help! (PsIP) XP (UPDATED w/LIP)
i would really try to find the dusty rose pink that is in your bedding. That would look lovely contrasted with your dark furniture and blinds.
here are a few pages worth of pink curtains:

I would lean toward a champagne type color that will go with the bedding or if you wanted a more feminine look I?d go with a pink to match the bedding.
Good luck!
I can't tell if the walls are ivory or pale pink, but I'd do the opposite in the curtain. And I like what you've proposed with the side sweep.
I agree, PP, I don't think the curtains should be the same pink either... in the same family, yes, but not the same exact color. I'm going to go to JCPenny tonight and see what I find there.
Thanks for all your input.

I have that same bedding. I can't recall what site it was, but one of them allows you order various swatches of fabric that matches the bedding (I think there are 6-8 differrent choices of fabric that match the bumpers). So you could order the fabric you like and do the design that you have up top.
Also, shopped around online and ordered the curtains for less than $189. I will tell you that they seem to have a somewhat peachy hue (which I was not happy about), but now that we painted the room a very light pink I think it will look good. I also ended up buying an extra bedskirt and had a valence made which would look great with your dark blinds...it turned out really cute because of the little tassles that hang down.
As for color, I don't think I would do gold (I like it but not with this bedding). I'd probably choose ivory or a pale pink if you don't buy the fabric that goes with the bedding. Most everything in our room is light colored, but we have dark furniture. So, I think a light color would look good with your dark blinds.
Also, all the colors in the bedding seem REALLY hard to match. So that's why I think it wouldn't be bad to order one of the swatches. Not to say it's impossible to find something to compliment the colors in the bedding.
Additionally, I'm not a girl who likes a ton of pink. But, since our room is such a light pink, the drapes look pretty good. So I think you could do pink or ivory. We're tying to get everything hung up tomorrow, so I could possibly email you pics.
My email is rbeckelman@gmail.com if you have any questions :-)
I agree!
Ok, so I shopped around and this is what I wound up going for...
The first pic (of the panels) is the curtain I chose and I got two of the valence things in the same color.
What do you guys think?
I used the pink silk pillow to match up the fabric and make sure the colors compliment one-another. When it's all up and together, I'll be sure to post pics. I think this is the last of what we had to do! Yay!
