  I had never heard it until Ozy used it a few months ago on here.  In fact, I've only heard it on BOTB.

  Butthurt is a GREAT word.

  Generally, it is used when someone is teasing and it gets taken too personally, "Aw, don't get all butthurt".

  As far as origin, I have no idea. I got it from DH and Mrs.S2008
