1st monitoring appt. - not so good :-(

I guess anytime your RE brings up canceling your cycle, it's a sign of a not-so-good appointment :-(

First, he looked at my lining and said it was still very thin, it's at 3.6 and needs to get to 8. Right now I'm cd10, after 4 nights of stims. He prescribed estradiol to help thicken my lining - I'm really hoping that does the trick.

Then, he showed me my follicles and could only find two developing. He was surprised I am not responding to my meds, because by blood tests looked good (estrogen was 163). I was so upset; I started crying as soon as my RE walked out the door. He said there was a chance my cycle could be canceled if more follies don't develop. He upped my follistim back up to 225ius, until my next appt. on Monday. I'm so glad dh was at this appointment because he was very encouraging and sweet.

To add insult to injury, I've been bleeding since the beginning of my cycle. I had a my uterus aspirated yesterday to clear out all the blood, but I'm still spotting pretty heavily. I'm really trying to stay positive, but I just feel like there are so many negatives right now. Any good vibes would be greatly appreciated.

  • I was on 300 of gonal f and 1 vial of menopur and they only saw 2 growing follicles at my first monitoring appt after 4 days of stims. They upped my meds and I ended up with 6 eggs.  Hang in there.  Also, I don't remember what my lining was at my first appt, but I also bled heavily my first few days of stims.  Once my estrogen started to increase, I stopped bleeding.

My appointment went well!  Was just about to update when I saw your post.  Had 9 measurable follicles -- but they are lowering my dose to 75 iu's of follistim instead of 150, so I guess they are concerned that I'm responding too fast.  (fast responding = not great quality) i'm guessing?!?!  I go back Monday morning and start my ganarlix tomorrow morning.

  • Boo! I'm so sorry - I know exactly  how you feel! My RE seemed disappointed in my response at my first monitoring appointment yesterday, too, and I only had 2 follies. I sobbed the whole drive home. BUT I posted here and everyone reassured me that it is still really, really early so I am staying hopeful that they are right! Hang in there and I hope you get much better news on Monday. ((hugs))
