DD's 4th birthday party is coming up. I am tired of the shredded bbq sandwiches I usually do for gatherings. I don't want DH to have to grill and me spend the entire party inside.
Any ideas for big crowds that's easy to make. Maybe Ziti? Crockpot meals?
It's going to be at 330pm so maybe not a huge meal? Would you be disappointed if you came to a party where there is usually a ton of food, but the host only had snack like foods this time?
TIA!
Re: Food ideas for birthday party
I don't know what you mean by "large crowd" but we had 35 people over for dd's bday Sunday and I made 15 of these. Cut up to 48 little sandwiches and was plenty.
Tortilla Pinwheels
Ingredients
* 10 large flour tortillas
* 1 cup chopped veggies - I like using red and green peppers, red onion, and celery.
* 1.5 blocks cream cheese, softened
* 1 package dry ranch dressing mix
* 1/4 cup salsa
* 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
* 2 lbs of ham 2 lbs turkey, 1 lb salami
Directions
* Mix cream cheese with ranch mix and salsa
* Spread mixture onto tortilla; top with chopped veggies and cheddar cheese. Roll and place in a casserole dish and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. I like to keep them in the fridge overnight.
* Chop off the end of each tortilla and discard (or eat as you go along...); chop tortilla into bite sized pieces and serve. Each tortilla should give you 4-6 pieces.
We did soup and sandwiches for a birthday party.
One crockpot full of chili, one of cream of crab soup.
2 pounds turkey, 1 lb ham and 1 lb roast beef
Swiss and American cheeses
2 kinds of bread
Condiments
Chips and pickles
3 apps -- veggie tray, cheese and crackers and smoked salmon on rye with cream cheese
And we had plenty of leftovers. There were about 20 people there.
