What about pop tarts?

If your child was fed pop tarts at daycare?  How would you feel?

Re: What about pop tarts?

  • Again.......once in awhile ok.  Are they feeding junk/high sugar stuff on a regular basis?  That would be my concern.

    Exactly.

I tried giving D pop tarts for breakfast earlier this week.  He took one bite and spit it out.  Again, HOW IS HE MY KID?!

  • My DD loves pop tarts.  I even feed them to her at home (not everyday).

  • Everyday? Eh - I wouldn't be to crazy about it.  But every once in awhile is fine by me.  If just for variety even.

They should be able to give you a sample menu so you know what your child will be eating on a regular basis.

  • Seems like you're noticing a trend - ramen, pop-tarts, What else has your LO eaten there?

For sure.  My DC gives us a monthly menu of what they plan.  Obviously, it's not exact and sometimes things change, but it gives us an idea of what he's going to be having each day.  And FWIW, pop tarts and ramen have never appeared on the menu.

If my kid had recieved both pop tarts and ramen noodles in a two day span, I'd be packing his lunch or looking for a new daycare.

  • ds loves unfrosted pop tarts, but I wouldn't feed them to him on a regular basis.

This.  Not that I mind him eating those things every once in a while, but it doesn't seem like the daycare is that concerned with feeding the kids healthy meals.  A healthy menu is something that would be important to me.

  • This was in one day.  Yea all that in one day and plus on top of it a cookie.  Yikes.  What a freakin day this has been.  She is really different with all of tihs sugar in her.  This was her second day there.  The day before she had breakfast at home with me as it was a p/t day, then for lunch spag and meatballs which was probably canned I have to ask, cottage cheese, bread, banana.
