the same brand double stroller that you purchased for the single stroller with your first born? I was told that the Contours double stroller is awesome, but I was tempted to buy the Graco one, as it would hold the infant seat. We have a Graco single stroller already. Any tips/thoughts? TIA!
Re: Double stroller...did you get....
I had a 2 year old and infant....totally bought the Phil and Ted Sport Double...love it to this day....my now 4 year old still likes to sit in the back! So easy to manuver in malls, crowds, etc...
Check it out!
DD was 2 yrs 9 months when DS was born. I got a Baby Trend sit and stand from One Step Ahead. The front seat converts, so in the beginning, it held the car seat carrier and once DS was old enough, you can the bar out to accomodate a sitting child.
There are several "versions" of this product and I do wish I had gotten the kind that actually has 2 full seats - the back seat can be removed to turn into the "jump seat" (not sure if that makes sense or not). See the version I got requires that DD sit backwards (facing the person pushing the stroller) if she wants to sit. This other version has a regular seat so that the backseat child faces forward with their own snack tray, but this seat can be removed too.
Thanks ladies. What did you do about the infant seat though? I want one that will be compatible with the infant seat. Is that necessary? Do the infant seats have to go in there, or are most secure enough to put infant directly in stroller?
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
We have this version, the double with 2 full seats. Baby #2 hasn't yet arrived, but we've been field testing it with DD and the empty infant car seat a bit. The Graco car seat we have fits/attaches to either the front or the back seat, so we can either have the baby up front and DD standing/riding in the back, or DD up front and the baby closer to us. It is a little tight in the stroller, so if you have one of the newer 'bigger' Graco snugrides I don't know if it would fit, but the original size does OK.
I got a P&T (with double) as a gift, but my car seat (Combi) doesn't fit with any of their adapters. And it's cold, so I want to leave LO in the seat.
So, I got a Joovy Caboose (sit and stand style) and it works great. Takes any kind of car seat, and 3yo LOVES standing. I got it on CL.
The sit and stand is compatible with my graco snug ride car seat. If I understand your question, I would not feel comfortable forcing my infant car seat to "sit" somewhere it wasn't designed. In the sit and stand, the car seat locks down, plus has a strap to hold it in place.
I never needed a single stroller and used the DSNG at first so I don't have anything to compare to. We have the Baby Jogger City Mini and are happy with it. It is lightweight, easy to fold, large sunshades that work independently and has great steering. You can buy a car seat adapter but we did not use that b/c it only holds one car seat adapter at a time.
The only negatives for us is the storage below is minimal and a little tough to get to and if you want a parent console or attachments for the kids they are all extra. But I just hook my diaper bag to the handles and that becomes our storage and cup holder.
