Hi! I need a better baby carrier. Have the K'tan, and dd does not seem to love it as much as I thought she would. I'll be traveling in 7 weeks and want something that is comfy for both of us, that I can use for hours at a time, and (hopefully) that will be useful for a few months.
I don't know much about carriers, and would prefer to get one that does not require tying or miles of fabric. Does anyone know about the babyhawk ones?
Thanks for any info or rec's!
Re: best baby carrier? rec's, please!
Am I reading your ticker right and your DD is 3wks? First, Congrats! Second, 7 wks is a long time at that age and she may fall in love with the K'tan with more use.
The Beco is a soft-sided carrier (different from a mei tai which uses ties) which is easy to put on. With the infant insert it's easy to make sure your LO is secure. However, it wasn't until much later that I could "pop" M in and out of the carrier. When he was really tiny, I would always put him in the carrier, then put the carrier on.
Anyway, we still love our Beco so I'd say it's a great investment. However, it definitely wasn't my go-to carrier until M was a bit older.
we have a meitai by catbirdbaby, and we all love it! i'd say it is worth considering alongside the babyhawk.
like PP said, the beco is a slightly different thing than a pure meitai. the ties on our meitai (and on any, i'm pretty sure) are quite long. you need them to be in order to do the various holds. if you *really* don't want to mess with even that, you might try something like the beco first.
that said, the meitai is very easy to use and you get used to the long ties really fast.
GL!
