What type of birthing technique

Do you plan on using? Or are you going to "wing it"?

Re: What type of birthing technique

  • We are reading up on the Bradley Method (with DH as my labor coach), but since we aren't taking Bradley Method or any other Natural Birthing Method Classes, I guess we are technically winging it!

  • We're planning a waterbirth but other than that we're winging it, meaning no special method like hypno or the bradley method.

That would be the "o,.k. doc, now tell me what to do " technique.? Also known as the Forrest Gump method of "To do whatever you tell me to do, sir" technique. LOL? I'm wingin' it.? I figure if women can give birth alone in the bathroom, I'll do o.k. in a room full of medical professionals.? Well...we'll see! LOL? I had a c-section last time, so this will be a VBAC if I go vaginally.? No "special" stuff for me.??
  • Oh okay, I just decided I should read up on some techniques or something but it sounds like just winging it ! Lol

Are you wanting to have a drug free birth? or plan on getting an epi?

Most likely an epi But Im not against trying as long as I could without meds.

I agree. My momma said - if women can squat in the fields, give birth, and keep working then you can wing it.

We meant to have some plan but we didn't.

Well the best thing you can do to have a drug free birth would to be to prepare yourself as much as possible. My doula explains it like this Labor is like a marathon and would you sign up for one and expect to just show up and finish with no preparation? Probably not. I have a doula and took my childbirth classes with her and she has had a bradley and hypo birth so she taught us a mixture of both.

Even with planning on an epi I would personally do research on the different drugs used, things to augment labor (pitocin ect) just so you know what is going on while you are in the hospital. That's me though because the more prepared I am the better I feel about a situation. Especially something as important as giving birth.

  • We're planning on a waterbirth with our midwife
  • I strongly recommend learning breathing techniques, even if you're planning an epi.  I have a friend who planned on getting the drugs, but her labor came on so quickly it was too late - she had to give birth naturally and was totally unprepared.

I took a class from a Lamaze certified instructor, thought it was great.  Probably having a c/s but at least it'll help me if I go into labor early until I'm given the drugs.

  • My husband and I took Bradley courses. We feel really good about that choice.
  • Bradley method...assisted by my doula.
  • C-section, LOL

I winged it with my first. It wasn't so bad, I have a high pain tollerence and just breathed through the contractions. When I had my emergency c-section I was already 7 cm's dialated. I probably wouldn't have needed meds.

  • DH and I are taking hypnobirthing classes with a nurse/midwife here in Beijing.  We're loving it!

LOL - that's hilarious! Thanks for the laugh!

  • Bradley.  We're just reading a book, though, no classes...so kind of winging it...
