I have to go back to work in four weeks (boo). I'm planning on pumping while I am at work. Does anyone know if there are laws that say the place has to have somewhere to pump or am I way off?
I know in California there are. They need to provide you with a private room that is not a bathroom stall. Also they need to allow you enough time to set up and pump and clean up. I usually limit my pumping time to 10 minutes, set up and clean up im back at my desk usually 15 minutes
Here's a link that has all the different state's breastfeeding laws. I don't think that Ohio has anything specific but check with your company to see if there is any prior precedent by set by other moms.
In KY, we don't have any specific laws regarding facilities to pump/ accomodations while at work although they are trying.
I think you are supposed to have two 15 minute breaks in addition to your lunch break and you could use those for pumping. I was fortunate to have my own office and a flexible office. I put a note on my door that I was availble by phone or email.
I would definitely speak to your employer before you return and surely there should be some way they can accomodate your request to feed your child!
If you don't have a place to wash the 'horns' you could get two sets, have them pre-assembled and wash them when you get home. When it was really busy this helped me not be 'away' as much.
