3rd Trimester

Anyone still have there belly ring in?

I wore mine (a pregnancy one) my entire pregnancy with ds and am doing the same with this one too. This one though it seems like my belly is stretching more right in front and my belly button (which is an innie/outie) is sticking out more and therefore irritating the skin overtop my piercing. It is very red, sore and itchy. Not infected though. I have been putting neosporin on it and then a bandaid over top.

I don't want to take it out because I'm scared of scarring (which I did not get while pregnant with ds). Anyone else going through this?

  • I have one in - but its a maternity one. It is very comfortable and I have had no problems with it. And it wasn't very expensive either.

I do!  And I don't have a pregnancy ring... a normal one.  Some reason my belly button is just not effected by pregnancy... lol.  I took it out w/ dd, five years ago and it grew over and I never had an outie, so I decided to leave in this time... here is my big ol' belly - with my dd's artwork :-)

Lol. Cute! My skin overtop my piercing is thinner than your's. I think the baby is right in the middle and stretching that part of my belly the most.

I think it is a mix between my already deep belly button and the ring was pierced deeper (this is my 2nd since the first one grew over - it was on the bottom... I was trying to be different lol... and it didn't scar, so if you are worried about that, I did not have any scaring but I heard that repiercing scarred skin is painful so I went to thetop this time!!!!)

Mine is pierced at the top. Maybe that is my problem. IDK.

  • I still have mine in, I'm really paranoid that the skin is going to tear soon but I don't know of any way to prevent it.

  • We took mine out at the beginning of the pregnancy.  You can see both holes from the piercing on my stomach now, I'd be nervous to have a ring in.
  • Just an FYI, though Neosporin may be good to help minimize infections to your belly button, it is also a HEALING ointment and may help your belly button piercing to heal.

  • I still have my normal one in. I take it out when I wear tighter tops but put it back in after. It's doing just fine. My innie looks like it might turn to outtie at some point, but till then, this ring is staying in.

I still have mine in and looks just like yours - but with a pyramid around the top from the scar... I did get a pregnancy ring but didn't even need to use it.

With DD I kept my regular one in until the day of the birth.? Doc made me take it out before the c-section :(? I tried at the first opportunity to stick it back in, but I couldn't get it back through the hole. I've had it re-pierced once when I had laproscopic surgery and no issues.? This time I said I'd just wait until I'm done having babies.? I miss it though, I really do.?
  • I took mine out at around 11 weeks because I just thought that's what you were supposed to do... DH says it looks like my newly flat belly button has an eyebrow now! haha  The hole is just reddish and really stretched out horizontally.  I kind of wish I'd tried to keep it in because this summer I'll just have weird hole scars.  Oh well.
  • Mine is still in too.  My bellybutton has gotten shallower, but I still have room to move the piercing up/down, so I'm just going to leave it.  I figured I would get a scar if I took it out, so I'm just hoping it stays put for the next 9 weeks!!
