2nd Trimester

Raining on my parade

Does anyone else get this reply when you tell someone whether you are having a boy or girl? "Well, you never know...I knew someone who thought they were having a girl and then they had a boy". So annoying. I realize that this does happen, but it used to happen a lot more than it does now days. I would guess it's a very small percentage of error these days.

  • Yes I have had that happen.  I think people just like to share peculiar facts.

  • My cousin was one of those that was supposed to be a boy but was a girl..that was 20 years ago though and I really doubt theres much error these days also..I wouldnt worry about it :)
  • Ugh so annoying. I got this with DD all the time. Dont believe it. Sure it might happen occasionally but its rare. I would say "You know you are way more likely to get in a car accident then for that to happen, right?"
My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013! image

  • I had a cousin that was supposed to be a girl and ended up a boy.  My u/s is VERY clear - it's a girl.  But my aunt is not convinced.  Oh well.  We'll wait til she shows up and then the laugh will be on them I suppose.

  • So annoying and I think very infrequent these days...I was supposed to be a boy, but I was my mom's 4th and she just knew for sure that I was a girl (that was 30 years ago!)
  • I haven't (yet) since I'm not there yet...but I think it is super-rude. I hate when people turn something negative that should be a positive. It's not that hard to say, "That's great!" I'm not a big fan of Debbie-Downers.

  • I've had people tell me this, too: "You know, those can be wrong."  Umm, yes, I know that there is a chance that our little girl is actually just a shy boy.  But let's be honest--it is a very small chance.

    People are annoying.

  • I've had people ask if we are going to find out. And when I say "yes" they ask if I'm sure.... I know there is a SLIGHT chance of it being wrong.

  • Constantly. One girl at work, who also happens to be a belly-toucher-without-permission, is convinced I'm having a girl. My 20 wk ultrasound looked like he was sitting butt naked on a photocopier, so I showed it to her, and said 'see? BOY!' she looked and said 'No, I think that's the umbilical cord. I'm just sure you're having a girl!'

Arghh...some people.  My grandma actually, did the whole hemming and hawwing thing, "well...hmmm.  maybe next time."  What's with people.  Just be glad the baby is here and you can plan for it!  Sheesh.

  • YES!  I'm painting the room purple and DH's mom is like "hopefully they were right and its a girl." And DH is like "well if it's boy he has a very small penis because there was nothing on that u/s." She laughed but it shuts people up.

I hate people like that. Stupid know-it-all's. Well you will have the last laugh when you deliver a beautiful baby boy!
