How do you jazz up pita bread?

We're having one of my husband's employees for dinner.  We're just having hummus/cucumber with pita for appetizer.  Other than just heating the pita cut up into slices in the oven does anyone do anything to make them more special? ie, oil/salt or something?

Thanks!

  • I brush them with olive oil and sprinkle on some oregano. I find that if you add salt, they get too "salty".......

  • Make Pita Chips!

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Cut pita into wedges and place on baking sheet. Spread them out to make one layer. Toss with olive oil and coarse salt.  Bake 5 minutes.

  • Oh, and I bake my pita bread like the other post said. I do 350 because I don't want them to burn (I have 3 kids and tend to lose track of time! LOL!)

  • I ended up combining ideas: cut pitas into wedges, brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with kosher salt and oregano.  Baked at 400 for about 8 minutes.  They came out sooo good!  Thanks ladies!
