Need party food suggestions...

What kind of food do you serve at a LO's first birthday party? I need ideas!

The party is going to be from 2-4 so we won't need a ton of heavy food. Also, we'll have about 25 people there but only about 6-8 kids.

 I was thinking about chicken salad croissants, maybe a bowl of mixed fruit (which Kennedy loves), some deli-roll things, cake.... and I'm running out of ideas!

I need to serve something that the majority of the kids will eat (they are between 6-10 years old) but I have no idea what. Maybe pigs in a blanket?

  • One kind of random item is stuffed shells. I served them recently and everyone loved them! You can buy them frozen, pour a jar of sauce over them and bake. Super easy and kids like them too.

    Maybe some kind of chex mix? Just from my experience most of the kids tend to snack instead of eat real well. They are too excited and want to play.

  • We did a Sat 2-4 party too & so it was all finger foods. But I had a lot because there were out-of-towners that came in and I didn't know if they'd be hungry {plus, I always tend to way over estimate the food}. Most everything was from Sam's to make things easy, but I did 4 homemade dishes:

    • Birthday cake {ordered}
    • cream puffs {bought}
    • cupcakes {bought}
    • brownie bites {bought}
    • cheesecake sampler {bought}
    • assorted pinwheel sandwiches {bought}
    • petite quiches {bought}
    • Chicken Salad Finger Sandwiches {each half dipped in mayo and then pecan crumbles...they were pretty!}
    • Bruschetta {homemade}
    • Spinach Dip {HERE} & blue corn chips
    • Baked Brie

    But we had mostly adults at the party {1 baby & then 1 other toddler...M didn't really eat at his own party-he just walked around greeting guests, it was super cute!}
