well I just ordered the quinny buzz 3 and I am registering for the maxi cosi mico to go with it but I was wondering for my husbands truck should I just get an extra base or register/buy a convertable car seat that we can use later on is it tacky to register for more than 1 car seat I am fully prepared to buy it my self if I dont get it along with everything else on my registery I am a first time mom and I just dont know what works best?? if your registering for a convertable car seat which one I have heard great things about britax but worried if it will fit in the back seat of my car(lexus IS)
Re: 2 car seats or one??
I'm registering for the Chicco Keyfit 30 and the Recaro Como G2. We're getting two bases also.
I initially planned to just get the Recaro, but so many folks told me I will wish I had an infant seat to carry the baby that I've changed my plan. Thus the items I registered for. I figure if we don't get the Recaro, we can get it later, but we'll see.
Get an extra base for your DH's truck and then buy a convertible later. DS moved to the convertible at 5 months (b/c he outweighed the infant carrier at that point and he was too heavy anyway!)
We have a Britax Roundabout and LOVE it. And it's great for smaller cars too.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
It depends on how often you will need to have the kid in the truck. If it's only once in awhile, like PP said, it isn't that hard to strap the car seat into the car without the base, and the second base will probably be a waste of money, and in something like a truck, probably a waste of space as well. If the child will be in that vehicle often, I'd recommend getting the base, they aren't that expensive and it does add convenience. Like other people said, go ahead and register for the convertible anyway. We have a Britax Boulevard (which isn't one of the smaller ones, and it fits, but is tight, in a Subara Impreza hatchback (pretty small car). The compact Britax models supposedly do really well in most cars.
