I know I am probably overreacting some, and I know it is still early...
But after 2 days of stimming at 225iu of Follistim I had two follies (11 and 10mm). My AFC is 10 and FSH is 10.9, so I never thought I would be an amazing responder. But after hearing every doctor say that my age would help (28) and they weren't worried, etc., it was completely devastating.
The RE said, "It's still early so I can't say for sure, but we may only get 1-2 eggs this cycle." Um, seriously?! We're doing Mini-IVF so our goal was only 3-5 eggs, but 1-2?! He may just be preparing me for the worst...and hopefully we do get a couple more...but I could tell he was disappointed.
When I met with the nurse I asked her and she said we're on track and we didn't want a lot of eggs anyway. They are going to call me after my b/w to tell if/ how much to increase my meds, but with 2 follicles that big already - won't any others be too far behind to catch up? Maybe I'm wrong about that?
Has anybody else responded that quickly to meds but with a low number of follicles? Any words of encouragement? I cried the whole hour drive home. I know this sounds extreme, but I feel like I just lost 10 years of my fertility today.
And who knows what will happen with this cycle. I am just praying and {unsuccessfully} trying to remain calm.
Re: Left 1st monitoring appointment crying :(
After 2 days of stims, I was lucky to have one at 10mm. They really start to pop after about 5-6 days of stims. I am a poor responder and always got about 6 eggs.
Try to hang in there - slow and steady wins this race.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I'm so sorry. I don't have any advice, but I can offer ((hugs)).
I know it's feels like things never go right when it comes to IF, but I think that your Dr. has your best interest at heart and would hope that he'd take good care of you.

Did they say if there were any smaller ones? I know they dont tell you if their under 10 but if I really pry sometimes they will tell me I have some 8's or a 7 or whatever. If you do have more can they put you on ganirelix to slow down the two you know about - to give smaller ones a chance to catch up? I agree that your age is way more important then your current fsh which isnt that bad. GL!!!

Hang in there sweetie.
This whole process is so frustrating and your emotions are all over. ((HUGS))
I don't have any experience with mini-IVF but DMD1029 just did it and maybe you can page her and ask about her experience and when she had her follies show up on u/s.

First of all, you ladies are seriously all so wonderful. Thank you for your responses, I appreciate it. I think it's making me cry more, but in that "I'm so emotional and really touched" sort of way.
Ginger, I didn't hear about any smaller ones but I don't really know. I do have ganirelix so maybe that will be the plan? I have always been a fast responder/ early ovulater (I think you were too), which is why I think my RE had me come in right away after starting stims. But I guess I don't understand why he would say I might only get 1-2 eggs based on what everyone is saying.

haha, seriously! I can't believe I'm already freaking out this much after 2 days.
I'll be here for you when you're crying (although I am hoping everything just goes perfectly for you!!).

I had 3-4 follicles after day 3 of stims (225 IU Follistim and 225 IU Menopur).
They upped my dosage to 300 IU Folliston and 300 IU Menopur.
By day 11, I only had 2 follicles. I was devasted. I am spending all of this money for what? Women naturally have 1 follicle, and with all of the drugs I only get 2??? I did trigger that night.
At ER, we got 4 follicles. And all 4 fertilized.
I am telling you all this as hard as it is, don't get discouraged.

I'm sorry you had a rough appointment. ((hugs)) It does seem very early on, but I think I'd feel the same way as you. It's such a roller coaster! My first monitoring appt is tomorrow, after four days of stims.
Good luck! I hope you get better news at your next appointment!

It always took me about 10 days of stimming to show anything. It was and still remains to be discouraging. With this IVF I didn't have a single follie over 10 after 10 nights but after a few more days my ovaries exploded. I had 32 eggs retrieved, 22 of them being mature.
please just trust that your doctors are monitoring you well and that they have things under control. if you don't trust them, then there's something wrong and maybe you should be looking for a new RE.
but please don't be discouraged ::hugs::
