2nd Trimester

anyone trouble agreeing w/ DH?

So, we found out we are having a girl and we had no ideas for names yet other than I want my mother's middle name anne as her middle name. So, every name I have thought is really cute my DH is iffy about every name. I found two this morning that he liked, Sophia and/or Alexis and I'm really liking Alexis but now he's being a big pooped about that name. UGH. So frustrating!! Anyone else have this problem agreeing?

  • Luckily you have a long time to come to an agreement.

  • we had this problem with boy names I just get together with my mom and his mom and found a family name(hayden his great grandfather) and just stuck to my guns and with my family and his family liking and encouraging the name now he loves it and thinks he thought of it!!! I think men really need guidence with baby names they dont think about it as much as women my husband hated ever other name I brought up to him if you pick like 2 or 3 names you love and are furvent about it he will eventualy get on board with one
  • Yes, DH and I had a hard time agreeing and we still do. We finally agreed on a girl name but the boy name is still up in the air

  • Oh yeah, we had that issue with Ethan's name!  We didnt agree on something till a few weeks before he was born.  No big deal, it'll happen.  :0)

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

yeah that didn't work for me.  my husband and i have some seriously different tastes in girl names.  but eventually he mentioned something he liked and i figured out a way to make it a nickname for something i really liked and BAM!  done.  but it took FOREVER to agree.

  • Yah, my DH doesn't like any of the names I proposed so far! I said if we don't agree on anything, we'll name him "Caillou" as my DD suggested.

Totally false for my DH.  He has super strong opinions on names & wants to talk about it every second of my life.

  • Honestly..I didnt really give SO a chance to voice names.. I let him when we didnt know but I always threw in Aeralyn..He didnt like it because originally I used to for a video game person but he got over it..And if our LO had been a boy I'd probably let him have more leeway I'm horrible with boy names but for the little girl..it was set.. SO got to pick her middle name though..

I think if he really *hated it* I wouldnt have stuck with it but he likes it and so does everyone else :) but there was really no long voting type discussion it was more "this is her name, tough noogies"

  • DH and I had this issue with DD. She was 2 days old when we finally agreed on a name for her. It is very frustrating. Thankfully this time I think we have already agreed on names I think!
  • Oh yes!
DH and I had discussed names a few weeks ago and I thought we had two awesome names picked out - they both started with an M and sounded good together! Then last week he tells me he wants the little boy to be a Jr. instead and I could name the little girl what I wanted. (Excuse me? These are our children, the boy is not 'yours' to name just like the girl is not 'mine' to name. I think it should be a mutual decision!) Then he decides if we can't name the baby after him then he wants to name him after his dad/2 grandpas/and uncle (whom ALL have the same name). Needless to say I'm not thrilled with either option. And he is so stubborn about it too! ugh.
