...do you take them home with you and/or DH to "recover" from the vaccine side-effects, or do you take them on to daycare for the day?
My DD's 18 month appointment is tomorrow morning, and I've missed a lot of work this week due to a stomach bug. So I could really use the time to make up some hours. She just has to get her DTaP shot...her previous reactions to it have been pretty typical: a bit fussy but mostly sleepy.
I don't like the idea of sending her to daycare if she's fussy, since they can't cuddle with her the *entire* time. I could ask that if she looks sleepy if they could let her hang in the infant room & nap. My DH *might* be able to stay at home with her, but he's in a similar situation (needs to get in some hours since we both got the same bug).
Anyway, just curious what others do in this situation. Am I too much of a worry-wart? I tend to be overly cautious, so I like some outside opinions. =D
Re: After your LO gets their vaccinations...
I take him to daycare (although our daycare has nursing staff, so its a little different). Its never been an issue.
My parents watch her most days so I take her there afterwards but have them call me if anything seems off and I call and check in on her a lot more than usual.
Thanks, those are a few interesting points! Come to think of it, DD has been *SO* much better with her vaccines than she use to. And, because it's just the one (and she's had it 3 times before), I'm a lot more comfortable about it. I think I might drop her off as long as she's okay at the doc's, but ask them to please call me if she's fussy at all. My work is only 10 minutes away from daycare.
The good thing is the appointment is timed so I won't get her there until probably close to lunch, anyway, and then it's naptime.
Oh, and if she catches this stomach bug we have, the point will be moot. Please, please, spare her.
Thanks again, so much!
