If you have b/g twins (or a combo of triplets)

Did your DD hit early milestones (cooing smiling, etc...) earlier that DS?  I've heard this is often the case and is for us.  I just want to see what the consensus is on the board.

TIA

Re: If you have b/g twins (or a combo of triplets)

  • DD has done about 75% of them first, DS about 25%.

DD is much more of a do'er.  She just tries it an usually isn't very good at it for a long time.   For example, rolling.  She did it first but it took her weeks to master it.  While DS waits longer but he seems to master it quicker.  He was rolling like a pro after a few attempts.

  • DS hits the physical milestones (rolling on his side and lifting his head) before DD, but DD hits the others first like cooing, smiling.

  • DS has hit almost every physical milestone before DD. The only thing DD did before him was get her first tooth.
  • I think DD's have done most things before DS.

  • OOPS...I meant the other way around.  My daughter has done everything first, except for her teeth.  My son follows eventually, but his teeth are coming fast.

  • DS smiled, cooed, laughed and rolled over before DD.

He also has teeth, she does not.

He can also sit up unassisted, while she is still tripodding.

He is also up on all 4s, ready to crawl, she is still hanging out on her belly.

    He said "mama" first, too.

  • At first, DS was doing things first. However (except for teeth), by 3 months, DD was ahead of DS in the developmental milestone category.
  • DD is hitting most of the milestones about a month or so before DS does.

That said, we have a feeling DS will speak first, because he has been more vocal & communicative than DD has (she followed suit a couple of weeks later, but he's still the more vocal of the two).

  • DS hits most first so far. He rolled both ways first, smiled & laughed first, cooed first, but she was wayyy better with her hands before him (grabbing at & manipulating things) and she also sat unassisted first I am pretty sure but they were pretty equal on that for the most part.  The other one seems to follow relatively quickly with each milestone, I think she rolled front to back like 2 weeks after him and then back to belly a little longer after, maybe a month or so.

Neither one still has any teeth at 7 months...

  • yes our girl is a little ahead.  I have also heard this to be true a lot.
