Epcot and a 2 1/2 year old

Hi Ladies,

My IL's are going to epcot at the end of the month and they want us to go with them. Last night after looking online, it seems there won't be much for Mateo to do.....have any of you gone with your LO?  If so, was there plenty to do?

 Thanks,

Natalie

Re: Epcot and a 2 1/2 year old

  • If your two year old is like my two year old - he can probably have fun in a cardboard box? LOL. Epcot was not Sophie's favorite park but she was never bored there. There are rides she can go on and shows she can see but she spent some time running around and playing in the buildings with us while Abel or I road Soarin, or Test Track, etc. She was able to go in the big ball with us. Mission Earth? She liked that. There is Finding Nemo, Figment, Honey I Shrunk the Audience (corny)....and then there is a lot of stuff to see in the World's Showcase. There is also a fun place for him to meet all the characters and they can sign his autograph book.

So its like going anywhere new - lots to see and do even if its not as kid friendly as MK or AK. Mateo will be fine.

  • We go to Epcot for the food! There are a few things that Mikey does enjoy. His favorite is the Nemo ride. He also enjoyed the ride with Figment (can't remember the name). You can also do the ride inside the ball and take the boat in the Land. I wouldn't say there is plenty to do with a 2.5 year old, but there are things to do.
  • Matthew loved the Spaceship Earth ride, Nemo, Figment and all the things to see in the World Showcase. You also might be in time for the Flower and Garden Festival. We only had to wait in one line to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy - which was really nice. All in all we had a great time and will be back for a half day in the middle of March. Oh, and Matthew is 2. Oh, and he even rode the ride in Norway.
  • Oh, and Illuminations is beautiful. It seems to me to be louder than MK's fireworks, though. My baby didn't mind it at all, but if yours scares easily from loud noises you can always get reservations at certain World Showcase places for dinner. I think England has the best view, but you'd have to look it up.
  • Noah loves Spaceship Earth (the ride in the big ball)!  Everytime he sees the iconic photo he goes on and on about how he went inside.  There's a lot to look at there.  The Nemo show is there.  It's a fun time but it's not the constant rides and overload of Magic Kindgom.
  • Ditto whateveryone said -- I do believe there is  also a place where he can go and see all of the characters in one spot.  Eli enjoyed the Beauty and the Beast show (I think he was younger than Mateo at the time).

  • There are some great things for toddlers- a lot of walk through places with games and music activites. i.e. after figment they have this big area where the kids can stomp on these rocks that play music, and use their hands to conduct- it's all about sense. Hard to describe, but yes! World Showcase doesn't have as much, but my neice took a great nap while we walked around their, since the whole experience can be a little overwhelming!

ETA- Canada is the best place to eat in all of Disney- if you can get a reservation there then I highly recommend it (it's a steak house).

  • Both my kids LOVE Epcot! Nate always asks to go there. There is tons to do with them there!
  • I would definitely go, if I were you. Charlotte looooves spaceship earth, she also likes the donald duck ride in mexico, and the voyage of the viking in Norway. Between the shows, the food, character meeting spots, , the few good rides, and the night time illuminations, you will have an awsome day at epcot. Not the best disney park, but still fun! Btw turtle talk with crush, and the nemo ride are two musts! Have fun!
  • get the ear muffs you saw at the superbowl  - the sound stage rides are at deafening decibels - disney has been sued, and put up signs that most parents ignore.
  • Thanks ladies ;) Two of Rick's nephews have March birthdays and that's what they want, everyone to go to epcot with them so looks like we'll be there.  But, what's with the earmuffs?  never heard of that before.

What is this about? I don't remember anything with deafening decibels when I was there. Which sound stage rides?
