2nd Trimester

what is the verdict on concerts?

I wanted to see a friend's band play in a few weeks at a rather small venue.  I anticipate it will be rather loud, and crowded.  I probably won't stay long as I won't have much patience with the noise and people, but does anyone know whether this is to be avoided because of the noise level.  I haven't found much info to help me.  Thanks!

  • Unless you are standing right in front of the speaker, the noise shouldn't be a problem.  The only thing that would concern me is if there was going to be a lot of smoking around.  Oh, and no crowd surfing LOL.

  • It's fine.

I went to a concert outside in July at 37w PG with DS.  I delivered a week later.

  • I am sure you will be fine...My church organ/band is very loud and I am not going to stop attending services...it's only one time so you should be ok when are you due?
  • I doubt it'll be a problem... just don't stand directly in front of the speakers! I'm going to an outdoor concert in May. DH wants me as far back as possible, and away from potential smokers. LOL. I'm just happy I get to go :)

ha, no smoking in bars here, so that's easy.  I'll try to restrain the urge to crowd surf :)

  • I was going to say unless you plan on jumping from the stage into the crowd, it's fine.

  • I was told loud noises are okay as long as they don't last more than 4 hours per day. I had to ask my OB because one week per month I visit manufacturing plants where hearing protection is required. He should LO should be fine just limit the exposure. So I think you should be fine. I will also be going to an out door concert in July (we bought those tickets before the BFP).
  • I've been to three concerts since finding out I was pregnant.  I don't think an hour or two will do any harm since the baby is insulated & protected - but I would still recommend ear plugs for your own benefit. :)

  • My dr. had no problem with me going to a concert at 39weeks w/my first child.  I went, spent a lot of time in the bathroom, but had a great time.  No ill effects.  This time I'm going to one at about 37 weeks.  No smoking so that's not a concern but it's good that the music is piped into the bathrooms!!
