We decided to put Allie in a two-day a week program for next year. I researched and researched which program, and then chose one. Well, today was registration. The information you get and online, says it starts at 9:30. I just happened to call last week and they said there were only 5 spots left for her class and that I could get there at 7 this morning to get a numbered ticket (to come back at 9:30.) Well, I get there at 6:45, and they're already giving out tickets! I got #7...and #6 had twins! I spent all morning panicking that we wouldn't get in...and we did!!! YAY!
I am so excited for her to start in September. She loves other kids and is going to have a blast!!!
Re: That was stressful!
That's awesome!
Holy cow -- people were there at 7 a.m.?? That's crazy!
So glad she got her spot though -- I know that's exciting!
For real! Until I had Allie, I had no idea that daycares/preschools were so competitive! It was a lot of work and coordination to get her registered this morning between my job, my husband being out of town, and getting things to my mom who ultimately did the registering.
My best friend tried to find childcare while she was pregnant. Almost every single daycare she wanted had a 2-year waiting list! How is it possible to be on a list before you're pregnant??? I am very lucky to have my mom as my daily childcare!
I agree that the waiting lists are ridiculous!
When I was pregnant we got on the waiting list for one church daycare. Once you apply for the waiting list, they then notify you when the open sign up day is. Then people camp out, almost overnight just to get into the daycare. It's nuts.
We are still on the waiting list for the university's child development center. We have been on the list there since I was only 8 weeks pregnant. When we signed up we were told that some children wait up to 3 years before they are admitted.
