Okay, those who know me IRL, this probably seems like a stupid question....but I really need a great restaurant recommendation.
DH is turning 40 on July 2nd. We had plans to go back to CA and do the "wine-country" again.....obviously, that changed due to expecting DS #2 in May.
Anyway, I've stolen a great idea from a lovely lady's amazing DH.....I'm doing 40 days of DH's 40th. (Something special each day for the 39 days leading up to his 40th bday.) Anway, to make a short story longer.....
On his actual birthday, I'm looking for a NICE restaurant to take him to maybe in downtown Dallas or FW (I've got a limo set up and a hotel room in GPVN for the night).
We have our favorite restaurants in Frisco, GPVN, and No. Dallas, but I want to treat him to something new (not necessarily a new restaurant, just new to us.)
Oh, he's not a seafood eater.
Any recommendations? (PS, I don't trust online reviews ie. Open Table, Yelp, etc.....TRUST me.) I'd prefer "real" experiences.
And, once again I babble.  TIA!
Re: NBR.....Need restaurant recommendations....
I have recently eaten at both Riata and Lonesome Dove in Ft. Worth, and both were EXCELLENT. They're both upscale 'Texas' foods ... but both have a very interesting menus. Service was awesome at both.
The chef/owner of Lonesome Dove was both a guest judge on Top Chef and an Iron Chef winner I believe
I also really enjoyed Dragonfly last fall during Restaurant Week in Dallas.

I'm newer to Dallas, but was in the same position myself a few months ago for my birthday- looking for a great restaurant. I did a lot of research since we were hiring a babysitter for the first time (for our then 4 mo old), I wanted it to be exceptional. We ended up at the grape on greenville which was wonderful. Great little spot with a good wine list. Not a huge menu, but one of those places that does a few things, but does them well. We also recently had a chance to go to Samar in the arts district. This was amazing!!! It is Spanish/Indian/Mediterranean food- tapas style, so it was a great chance to try a lot of different foods. The one downfall is that they don't take reservations, but the wait time ended up being about 1/3 of what they told us (initially 1.5 hours). The next one on my list is Hibiscus. good luck.
Ps, Can you maybe let me know what limo co you're using. I'm looking into hiring one for my husband's birthday. He's never been in one! thanks!
I second Totty on Riata and Lonesome Dove. These are 2 of our fav places.
Never been to Dragonfly, but I've heard amazing things about it.
The Grape is my favorite special occasion restaurant- the chef/owner is awesome and their menu changes monthly.
Also good in Dallas: Craft, Abacus, Fearings, Hector's on Henderson, Hibiscus.
Hibiscus

and
Del Frisco's

are two of our favorites!
another vote for Hibiscus... my neighbor a few doors down actually owns the place (and Fireside Pies)
but our all time favorite nice restaurant in Dallas is Fearing's at the Ritz. everything there is soooo good! definitely the perfect place for a big celebration!
