  We do not have a dresser in DD's room still.  We do have a cabinet in the corner from IKEA that works so well that our nanny is buying one for her daughter's room too (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10121761).  If you got baskets or a small shelf unit for the closet, you could probably get away with not having anything at all.

  We don't have a large room either.  I opted to go with a four drawer chest of drawers instead of the changing table.  We decided she'll get more long term use out of that.

  If your nursery has a closet, why not just get one of those closet organization systems? Rubbermaid has some decently priced stuff the you can customize. That's what I would do if we had a closet in LO's room.

  This!  We installed the Rubbermaid closet system in LO's room, and it is SO nice!  It gives you lots of space and lots of different organizational storage, and it's not too expensive at all.  I highly recommend it!  (We got ours at Lowe's).

  We are not getting a dresser for LO; he has a good-sized closet that we have installed some ClosetMaid shelving/rods in.  My mom is making sturdy fabric bins to put on some of the shelves for organization.  We did get a night stand with a drawer that I have put next to the glider for some surface space and a place for a lamp.
