1st Trimester

Bleeding with "tissue"...

Okay, so, I'm new here. My name is Ayo and I'm 34. I am a little over 7 weeks with my/our first. This past weekend, I started bleeding heavily with "tissue" mixed in (I know--possible TMI). I had a sonogram yesterday and there was a heartbeat (THANK GOD!!!). But, I'm still worried...will this happen again? Is it potentially harmful for the baby? I only saw the tech yesterday, and won't see my doc for two weeks. Has anyone else had this?

Re: Bleeding with "tissue"...

  • I would ask to be seen immediately.  There isn't a whole lot your OB can do, but it'd be good to know what exactly is going on.

  • I just had this last week.  I sent in the tissue for testing, still waiting to hear back if it was a twin or just a blood clot.  I saw the tech and the doctor.  I was so happy to see the baby's heartbeat.  However, I started spotting again this week...no tissue this time though.  I'm currently on bed rest.

If you start bleeding again, definately call the doctor and see if they could work you in sooner than 2 weeks.

     Good luck! Smile

  • Let us know what happens! I was pregnant with twins and lost at 9wks 2days. It was definitely scary because I was passing tissue and blood off and on for about a week but it resolved itself. My advice is to try to rest as much as possible and stay off your feet. T&P to you!!!

Thank you! My doctor called yesterday and said that based on the sonogram pic, it looked like it was subchorionic bleeding. She told me to rest and no sex or anything strenuous for a while until we can do another sonogram. I'll give you all an update after my next appointment.
