Car seats not working with our van?

So DH and I tried to install the Chicco Keyfit 30 bases in our 2006 Nissan Quest...we can't seem to get them to fit where the bubble in the level on the base is between the lines (or level at all).  Sort of like the seat cusion part is tilted too much and it isn't adjustable.  Did anyone else experience this...know how to fix it?  Any advice is much appreciated. TIA

  • Do you mean like it's slanted too far toward the back?  I've heard of people having to get a noodle for the water and cut it in half to help level it out.  I'm not sure if that's your problem or not or if that would solve your problem.

  • Is the base adjustable?

If not, pool noodles are usually used to make it 'straight'.  They can help you when you go to get them inspected.

  • That's the other thing...called my local fire department and police and NONE do inspections anymore...liability issues they said :(

  • Have you looked on seatcheck.org? They'll list places by zip code that do inspections.

  • A rolled-up towel or noodle will help level it.  Just not something heavy like a 2x4 - there was a guy at our hospital check that had that.

  • I would try adjusting the base.  We have the same carseat and it works in our Odyssey just great.

  • Marcuej - I am talking about the base...we have tried adjusting it several times...its very strange I don't get it myself.  It is very easy to install but its just not leveling out at all

Huh!  I'll have to take a look at ours and see if I can give you any tips.  Ours lined up right away.  It could be our seats are a lot different.

Ditto this -- and also check your hospital. Ours has set times for car seat checks, plus the local children's hospital has an inspection center that operates 5 days a week.
