I am doing some research on strollers and trying to figure out the benefits vs. cost. If you bought a uppa baby or other mid price range stroller (what brand?) what do you like about it? Why is it better than a $200 graco stroller?

Re: uppababy stroller or other mid price range strollers
We are planning on getting the City Mini (about $230). I've heard that it is easily foldable, easy to use with the car seat adapter and is good for walking, in restaurants etc.
You do need to buy the child's tray/belly bar etc. but they are not too expensive. I've priced it at Bed Bath and Beyond (where you can use 20% of coupons on the items) and it comes to about $330 for all the options I want (with shipping)-that includes the rain cover, child's tray, belly bar, cooler bag etc.
We bought the UppaBaby.
It just really fit our needs. We wanted something that would be great on walks as we walk the dogs daily as well as walk to friend's houses, dinner, etc. We also wanted a bassinet feature and a big basket.
Once you try out the UB you will realize why so many people since its praises! It is really an awesome stroller and will last for years!
I liked it better than a Graco (or other cheaper stroller) b/c it is easier to maneuver, isn't as bulky, and is way more aesthetically pleasing to me.
Baby Bargins also gives it a great review, better then the Bugaboo and Orbit.
Also, they have GREAT customer service. It is a fairly small company based in MA (ROckland, MA) so you always get a person on the phone. Also everything they make is also eco friendly. My dad's gf went to the actual retail store in Ma and was truly impressed by their customer service and the time they spent with her educating her on the stroller (she got for us as a gift!).
I'm just about 100% decided on the UppaBaby. We go for a walk just about every day (year-round, in Maine) on old brink and cobblestone sidewalks, so we need a sturdy stroller with a good suspension. I love the big basket for trips to the farmer's market or the library.
I also wanted a stroller with a bassinet and I LOVE that you can easily reverse the regular seat to face forward or backward. That's one of the big reasons I have never been a big fan of strollers - the poor child is forced to sit where you can't really talk to them and to be looking at everyone's knees/crotches all the time. I love the option of being able to push and have conversations while we're out walking.

FWIW, my DD loves facing out. Even if we're just sitting somewhere, she'd rather stare at all the other people and things going on around us than just talk to me.
We are able to justify the cost of the Uppa since we are urban dwellers without a car and live in building with an elevator. I don't think we'd swing it otherwise and would have gotten a cheaper option. Though I hate the Graco and other plastic beasts. I like the Baby Jogger and BOB.
We'll probably end up with a cheap umbrella at some point for when the baby is older and we travel by air.
I think this might be the case with some children, but not all (I certainly would have hated it as a child)- that's why I love the option of facing either way.

In addition to it's easy to fold and unfold feature.
The City Select can be used with an infant car seat, bassinet, or the seat it comes with. It is 500 but the fact that it can be transformed from a single to a double in a minute makes the price is reasonable IMO. This stroller meets every need except for jogging.
I think a lot of them do have infant car seat adapters, I know there is one for our City Mini as well.
We have a Bumbleride Flyer and we love it. It was about $350, but we got it on sale at albeebaby.com for $300. It is not quite as "all-terrain" as some strollers, but we live in the city and go for walks a lot and the only time we have a problem is navigating in the snow. (And we have tons of cobblestone/brick sidewalks that it does well on). What I really like about it is that it is also reversible - but you just switch the handle, so you can reverse what the baby is looking at on the go. My DS likes both - to look out or at me, and it has come in handy to flip him around if we are waiting in line at a store or something. It also has a fabulous sunshade, comes with a carseat adapter, has a huge storage basket, and comes with a cupholder. They also have great customer service...one of the wheels was sticking and our canopy was broken, so we called, and they sent us new ones.
I definitely recommend going to a store and trying some strollers out. You really can get an idea of what you like! GL!
I looked at the graco $200, uppa baby $600, and icandy $900... and went mid range. I have heard that the graco types are heavy and don't last as long and other complaints. I couldn't convince myself it was OK to spend $900 even though I loved the icandy. I heard so many wonderful things about the uppa baby and the baby jogger city select that is where I focused my research.
I'm chose uppa baby for many reasons, but am hoping it lasts us several years through, what I hope to be, another child or two.
